2021 Draft Thread

Good luck to Gibcus but I would have gone Hobbs.
Is there any reason for not a lot of love for Gibcus on this site? He seems to have plenty of upside on highlights etc and we only have Ben Miller in the wings for our defence so for me, a smart move
Gone back a load of pages and see there is so good comments on his pick

New game plan is unfolding - 17 defenders and dusty in the forward 50.

Let’s take a breath people.

Three more picks to go and a possible trade to help our positioning.

Defences win premierships and we have sowed that part of the ground for the next 10 years.

Next part is to address needs.

I believe in our club’s synergy between recruiting, list management and game plan.

The Clarke / Hartley / Hardwick trinity is an exceptionally holy one.

Before people go into total meltdown (if they haven’t already), a few things about Tom Brown.

1. He has very good skills. Very tidy.
2. He has a good turn of speed and agility. Can take the odd grab.
3. Very good tank.
3. When I first heard of our interest, the view was that he had potential to move into the midfield and be a Shedda type replacement. He has a lot of the tools to be so.

For me, if there was a knock or area for development, it’s his inside game which he acknowledges himself as an area of focus.

But otherwise I think you’ll hear the club say they think he can play a different role to a hbf so stay calm.
Both picks allow as flexibility with existing players on the list.

I’m surprised by the pick but I’m not at melts stage.

I’m more upset at Essendon making another super smart call in Hobbs.

Happy with this pick.

Brown's highlights package is stacked with modern Richmond traits. Fast in body and mind. A bit like Dow, Shai, and Shane.

Has endurance, pace, and runs towards goal making quick decisions.

We also continue our mindset of having faith in our own (RCD, Dow, Ross, etc), which helps development IMO.

We've already invested in these guys, so tonight's picks signal to them that we have confidence in them to succeed.

All well and good, but when we are getting creamed in the midfield even with our best players, this aint the path we needed to take.
We haven't gotten through a pre-season, seen the development in our youth, nor seen any modifications to our game plan and you're all ready putting the cue in the rack?

I've heard of darksiders, but all I can say to this approach is please stay away from ledges, sharp objects and watch out crossing the road.
If we were relying on a first year midfielder to save our club, we were pretty well *smile* anyway. That's what clubs like North Melbourne and
GCS are doing. Going well for them eh?

Ive recovered my equilibrium,

and feel quite stupid at my first reaction.

Our Tom Brown is a footballer, Matthew Clarke is a genius, and benny was in the room,

so its gotta be good.

I really hope we get The Sonz tomoz

Our Tom looks like he's half junk-yard dog.

profile says he has a big motor and a neat leg.

im starting to see the light
And he's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than a-old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog

I wonder if there is some thinking to push Cotch to the back flank and Martin into the forward line. Brown to be developed as a versatile mid. But geez, we need more class in the midfield and forward line.
