2021 Draft Thread

surely Brown was there at 26?
That's where I had him ranked, alongside Wilmot & Fahey. But there's still plenty of talent left on the board & we still have 3 picks. Some interesting upside reaches, haven't seen a call like Alleer since Tom Williams. They are paying for upside clearly but that's a big down payment.

Last time we had a top 10 pick was Flossy in 2012, another half back. He's done alright.

Next ten players (not including academy ones) could be:
Johnson, Sonsie, Goater, Draper, Taylor, Butler, McDonald, Bazzo, Knevitt, Howes.

Three of them and we’re doing pretty well. Conway and Motlop will probably be in that range too.
Cats are taking Conway if speculation is on the money

Remember we threw everything at North for JHF.

Didn’t rate the other mids so we picked for our game plan.

Two things are clear -

the Richmond Way is not conventional

we are doubling down on the hard-running, turnover machine that is the Richmond Way

it does seem like Dimma is moulding the side in his image, literally.

Tom Brown has the roughest head to come through our door in years.

and thats a good thing

I reckon he must have a gigantic V12 diesel motor?

there will be some method

It's not black or white buts it's Brown. Tom that is. Hopefully he is better than his school days

Before people go into total meltdown (if they haven’t already), a few things about Tom Brown.

1. He has very good skills. Very tidy.
2. He has a good turn of speed and agility. Can take the odd grab.
3. Very good tank.
3. When I first heard of our interest, the view was that he had potential to move into the midfield and be a Shedda type replacement. He has a lot of the tools to be so.

For me, if there was a knock or area for development, it’s his inside game which he acknowledges himself as an area of focus.

But otherwise I think you’ll hear the club say they think he can play a different role to a hbf so stay calm.
All well and good, but when we are getting creamed in the midfield even with our best players, this aint the path we needed to take.

Still left , Our 3 picks look like Gold now

Sonsie
Goater
Johnson
McDonald
Bazzo
Knevitt
Butler
Draper
Howes
Taylor
I can see the makings of a great draft looking at the depth now, we can also fix the midfield & do it properly.

We must be looking at a Houli replacement as a priority.

Baker a full time mid looking likely.
