2021 Draft Thread

I think if you frame the pitch around your interest in Fahey then it could well happen. North 2022 second & pick 28 sounds like a win/win on the presumption Fahey will get called in the top 20. I don't see why not either, he's an elite kick so it wouldn't surprise to see him picked very early.

With pick 9, 15 & 17 you could really fit out the midfield for the next 10 years, lovely hand to work with.
Im not in favour of giving up Norths F2 to be honest as i see it as a early 20's pick 20-24 range and i would much rather deal our F2 along with 1 of our current 20's picks. If not then let it pass

We give them our future 2nd and 3rd for 13 with the agreement for them to transfer their future 3rd for pick 28 after the Fahey bid has been met

I would just give them our future 1st for the 13.

Considering Dermie has us winning the premiership that pick will be 18 and we have Norf's 19 already.
We dont currently hold a 3rd round pick in 2021 or 2022

Surely Freo go Amiss and Erasmus if Hawks take Johnson.
It then leaves WCE with a quandary on local or best?
Then WCE definitely go best available.
They’d only go local if the quality was comparable.

Fair enough, I'm tipping North to move up the charts so I'm all for the deal.

Hawks still haven't decided between Johnson & Ward, that's my mail from various sources.
can understand how hard their decision is - I like them both as players.
Johnson is one of my fav players in this draft, not even sure why but having watched as much tape as I could, just something about him.

Moving up above us? If not, give GWS our pick not theirs.
Selling that might be a stretch, I would say GWS would have North clear bottom 4. I think we will see a spike in improvement based on players like LDU, Powell, Horne-Francis & Simpkin. Cunnigton's situation hurts a little but I think there will be improvement across the board and more than likely a review of Ziebell's impact as a defender. Can see a bit of shuffling and a new look Kangas in 2022.

There is an article on the main AFL website where the Giants say they are far more likely to use 13 than trade it.

Not sure if that would be correct and there was footage of some of the boys ding laps and some ball work about 7-10 days ago in the news and Biggy was amongst them.

Lets just hope he gets through to our pick and Norf dont do what Norf does
I dont think its Norf is it?

Probably the Saints whom we pinched him from) or the Bears or Drugs would be my best guess.

I really hope we draft Alleer, played a solid amount of senior footy and I think that really counts for something. Would love him with one of our picks in the 20's

If Amiss and Johnson are gone before our 1st pick, we certainly should consider Erasmus at 9, then possibly Van Rooyen at 17 giving us a springbok look in 2022, (or possibly first have a crack here at pinching Fahey from GWS).

Add 28 Alleer, 29 Fejo and at 30 Knivett.
Followed by Nyuen and Cumberland for a sweet result.

In a few years we will all say that 2021 turned out to be the best result for us in a very long time and that it set us up for the flags, which followed.

That batch is loaded with risk, too much from my perspective. You could feasibly wind up with only one or two core players and no genuine midfielders. The upside is definitely attractive but there needs to be more specialists and more complete packages.

Ok but two Alleer and Fejo are state league experienced 20 year olds with pretty good stats and excellent trial results.
Fahey and Erasmus are both bottom aged and have produced very well over a whole seasons work.

I have said it before but all 18 year olds moving up to AFL are prospects rather than specialists.
All have to find there way!
Can’t see any greater risk in Erasmus than in Johnson
and if you really want to talk about risk what can you say about Sonsie?
