Ok, here's my two cents worth.

Johnson vs Erasmus

Johnson strikes me as the safer bet given his kicking is more fluid, he has more runs on the board as a midfielder and he has extra height & superior agility. He's one of the safe bets for a lengthy AFL career. Erasmus is being touted as the next Elliott Yeo but that took years in the making & produced some patchy results early on. I'm wary about promoting a player based purely on Colts performances and feel the lack of exposed form equates to greater risk. Erasmus may well turn out to be an A class mid but the downside is a flanker with B grade kicking technique. This could be a no-mans land selection and is is a perfect illustration as to why you might want a specialist at pick 9.

Alleer

He's boom or bust, his intercept capability is not matched by his kicking skill and general IQ. his rate of improvement has been notable but he struggles with spontaneity and seems to lack awareness. His run and carry game is non existent so he's a bit behind Gibcus as the best key position prospect.

Fejo Jnr & Fahey

These guys are outstanding kicks but they are flankers first and foremost. This is a midfielders draft so I would be playing to the draft's strengths. One of these guys would be fine, provided you spliced the batch with 2-3 bona fide mids.

Sonsie

As a pick 17 selection he's fair weight, the knocks have been overblown, his form against men exemplary & his versatility much more useful than just a flanker like Fejo. Most boxes have been ticked - dual sidedness, 50 metre kicking range, acceleration & scoreboard influence. The fact he's not dipped below 20 touches doesn't marry up with the doomsday predictions.

Knevitt

Another boom/bust player who's kicking might be his downfall. Nice athletic package to work with but skills need some major refinement. Worth a 20s pick but not alongside a host of similarly risky prospects.

Massive chance to both Gibcus and Hobbs if we’re creative and things fall a certain way imo

There is usually a good reason a projected top 5 pick falls out of the 1st round. Fairly confident he'll fall further than 17 also.

So do I. In fact, wouldn’t be surprised if the Suns take Gibcus and not Andrew.

Interesting he’s got Draper way down at 26 and Taylor outside the 30. Think that’s both about right.

We need an inside mid or 2. More than we need defenders with out first 2 picks

But On Hobbs - if he does by chance get past Essendon at 11, he's better than even money to get to us ILHO.

Port and GWS (if keep pick) are next and are the two most flush clubs in the land for inside mids so unlikely.

Then leaves Lions before us. They possibly would, but also badly need run from the back half.

Agree though we still likely take him at 9. Solid pick who fits a need. But he might still be a Tiger if we don't take him then.

Draper as one of our three picks in the second round is growing on me.

Yeah I know. I didn’t suggest they were. If we want to get our hands on pick 13 it ain’t going to be for a packet of Twisties.

But in all seriousness Leysy even if we do overlook him , I can’t see Essendon having a need for him. They will look for outside polish.
And no way he gets to our 2nd pick regardless.
