2021 Draft Thread

I tend not to get drawn into draft comparisons from 10-15 years ago - cherry picking and just a lazy exercise IMO.

Why didn't you use Aaron Naughton as your comparison? See, I can cherry pick too.

I was discussing Gibcus - not Jayden Post FFS.

Really? I was discussing the comparison between Gibcus and Post which is a relevant one based on playing style.

Both have exceptional leaps and are good overhead. Can spoil well and have the odd fine moment but similarly are questionable by foot.

He's not dropping out the top 10 due to my opinion so settle down precious.

I think Hobbs is ours and still plenty of options later with our plethora of picks.

Victoria Country midfield bull Ben Hobbs has given a strong indication to where he thinks he might fall in Wednesday night's NAB AFL Draft.

Speaking on AFL.com.au's Draft Countdown on Monday, Hobbs said a couple of clubs with selections high in the first round had shown genuine interest.

"I've met with the Tigers pretty recently and they showed a little bit of interest and that could potentially happen," Hobbs said.

"I definitely think I can make an impact early," he said. “I want to be a strong player straight away."

That just makes no sense at all for GWS to do that !

2nd this year gets consumed by a bid on fahey and a 2nd net year would be 30+
Just crap and getting people talking
I think if you frame the pitch around your interest in Fahey then it could well happen. North 2022 second & pick 28 sounds like a win/win on the presumption Fahey will get called in the top 20. I don't see why not either, he's an elite kick so it wouldn't surprise to see him picked very early.

With pick 9, 15 & 17 you could really fit out the midfield for the next 10 years, lovely hand to work with.

Doubt GWS will want one of our second rounders this year will they?

Big danger it would be swallowed up by a Fahey bid.

A trade in 2 parts would work.

Their 13 for our future 2nd and our future 3rd.
Then wait.

We pick 26, 27.
Then we trade 28 for their future 3rd.

Giants get Fahey whenever there is a bid and still get to use 28.

The future 3rds effectively balance out.

its a legit move, as long as both trades stand on their own, so need to be reasonably balanced. Swans did this in the first year of future trades and AFL approved.

We haven't got a future third have we ?

So they effectively trade 13 for 28 and something likely around 30. Too lean for them.

Reckon if we shifted it to be Norths future 2nd all parties would be happy.

Ward, Hobbs and Sonsie.

I'd need a smoke and a lie-down.

I,d be happy with that.
Importantly the two part trade is the way for GWS to get both Fahey and their needs based pick (small forward?)
Doubles the benefit, multi layer win

Then we take Ward. Its looking very very likely that our 1st will be one of Hobbs, Ward or Johnson.

I think its way more likely it will one of Hobbs.

I think only a seismic curve ball (the San Francisco Giants practice them at training) in the top 8 could stop it,

and even then probably not.
