I’m not potting your reasoning for liking Johnson. He definitely has immense upside. And if we were to pick him first whilst Hobbs was still on the board, I wouldn’t be shattered.Tall mids who can kick well are as rare as hen's teeth, this extends beyond this draft & Johnson's relative unique skill set adds to his worth. His upside is also greater given he has pace, agility, height & the scope for him to be a genuine forward threat much greater than Hobbs in my opinion. From pick 5 onwards the field is pretty even so I would be looking at the draft haul in totality rather than simply grabbing a spate of inside mids.
I just don’t agree on the reason for picking Johnson because the gap between he and Knevitt/Long is far greater than the difference between Hobbs and someone like MacDonald. Decisions like that are more likely to bite you on the arse.
Always pick best available in the 1st round.
