Tough call. I can see more pros than cons though.
I reckon if we did pick him up and it went pear shaped, we could give him the flick pretty quickly without it affecting our 'brand' too much. Most people would just see Cousins as 'unhelpable' (is that a word?). It could even reflect positively on us by giving him a second chance.
Our off field structure at the moment is pretty good. March and Wright both impress me and don't seem to suffer fools. And for all Miller's faults, I don't think he's a weak character - he a Wallace would handle Cousins ok.
And people say we have no leadership in the playing group. Maybe not on-field (Cousins would certainly help address this issue) but who really knows the dynamics inside the changeroom? Richo, Jonno, Simmonds, Browny and even Lids could be a fairly intimidating group to have to deal with.

'Chances'? Risks more like it.
'Chances' are he'll fall off the wagon again or go by the wayside.
Perhaps pre season, perhaps rnd 1, perhaps on the verge of a finals series.
Will you be there when those directly involved at the club have to deal with it?

If worse comes to worse we delist him at the end of the year of hes just not up to it.
For gods sake.......we're getting an absolute champion for free!

I am a do gooder I think but when it comes to getting the side back up the ladder I think we need to foget our moralistic view and look at Ben in terms of what he can offer the club. We say we want the best yet when it comes down to it we only want the best with pretty untarnished reputations.
The was I see it, Cousins is in the top few players in the league and if you ask me, we could do with someone that plays the game like him. If he stuffs up off the field, which I doubt he will as all eyes will be on him and the price this time is the end for him in AFL then we let hom go. You will see a changed person next year I think and why not get him to the Tigers and give him a go. As others have said, he will play next year and I bet you bottom dollar that he will play for our rivals and strengthen their side - well this time it is our turn to grab one of those stars!
Even if he lasts a year - he has served his purpose as a lot may happen in that year that will set us up for the future. Better service than Richards could offer us for the next 10 years. Also, we may actually attract other players once we get off the bottom with Benny's help.
Mr Miller - please have talks with his manager as I got the feeling in the interview tonight with Ben on 7 that he will be playing next year and that he hopes it is sorted out while he is away - that sounds to me like a person planning on being at a club and playing next season. We have #1 - lets take a punt and get him - what do we have to lose except if he goes off the rails and no one will blame us for letting him go if that was to happen - they would be expecting it.....and if he doesnt - we have one of the best in the league in Tiger colours!
