Why it's worth taking a gamble on him
1) He is brilliant, one of the games best
2) His work ethic on the track is exceptional, quite possibly best in the league, just listen to interview from Kerr/Judd. Would set a great example in this area for the younger players.
3) Could play at least another 3-4 years
4) We could pick him up dirt cheap
5) Look at who else is avilable in the PSD, they are all garbage.
6) Getting out of Perth, is what he needs to help turn his life around

I actually beleive he is a good influance on younger players, due to
A) The youngers players after football hours associate with younger players, not the older ones.
B) the younger players interaction with Cousins 95% of the time would be on the training track and match day
I propose we take him pick 1 PSD, with strict contract conditions.
Pay him minimum wage in 2008, and don't even play him next year, let him get himself right
Excuse me if this comes out a bit crude, new to this forum and only just starting to use the Quotonater and know there is a better way to do this but have to stick with this for the moment till i can learn it...
To address your points...
1) No argument
2) No argument (though on this I would remind you that your living in the past...the fact is his problem got to a extent that he WASN'T training well, even turning up to training "in a state unfit to perform" as Worsfold has said (not exact wording, but very close to it and the meaning was clear).
3) This is speculative, comparing him to a "normal" superstar...fair call...considering the other factors hanging over his head...I doubt he will ever play again let alone last more than a couple of years
4) So what? There is a very good reason (that could be dire for our club) as to why you could pick him up dirt cheap
5) If you make decision on the PSD based on what else is available I believe your going down the wrong track.
6) No one knows the true extent to Ben's problems, on either end of the scale, what you say works for some people and doesn't for others. If he has problems due to his environment...then you could be right. If he has a serious addiction problem, doesn't matter what state it is that he is in
Your proposal is very similiar to what WCE did, that worked wonders didn't it? This guy needs time out from football to sort his head/issues, whatever it is that ails him. He is still not playing it right, even if he is clean.
That to me screams ticking time bomb waiting to happen.
