sheesh he was only found with antidepressants .. ffs he was with chick and a mate who were also pulled over . cocaine speed marijuana was found in that car cousins refused a drug test go work it out.

i know as a fact that that when cousins ran from the booze bus cocaine was found where they ran. this info comes from a very high ranking cop whose name will remain confidential. this two times he has avoided testing by breaking the law.
Blow it out your lower half Claw, the facts were, he was found with anti-depressants on him, nothing else, for all he has done wrong in the past, he was rail roaded on this one, with your way of thinking and lack of evidence, perhaps Lindy should've been locked up for life?
he was found with valium, which is not an anti depressant.

Smile you, *smile* head! (I would suggest you ask for a refund from your finshing school, you old charmer)
Sick of do gooder idiots sucking up to spoilt brats.
Cusins is a tool! Nobody else in society gets all these chances thrown at them.
You think entering rehab is admirable, what a joke, he didnt pay for it mate.
Most junkies could never afford such luxuries. You idiots feeling sorry for a party boy, Joke!
Tell me what good has he done for society? Just cause hes a top sportsman everybodys there to lend a hand.
Com'on tell me, other than footy what makes him any more of a hard luck case than anyother user.
So is the problem that he has money? Is it that he has been afforded good rehab?

Not sure where I suggested he was a hard luck story? Rather a little bit of sympathy/understanding for a drug addict. If he was robbing and mugging to get his fix I would suggest tougher measures, but he aint.

Seems now that people may have jumped the gun, or maybe not?

I still worry about people who enjoy a good game of 'kick em while their down'. Do they teach that at finishing school?

Sorry Elmer, I have Tourette's and bi "smiling" polar

I tried and tried, but i just cant feel sorry for him. But still, i'd love to have the smart ass playing for us.
Also i believe there are far superior alternatives than costly bull "smiling" sh#t holiday
resorts with hollywood hypnotherapy and spa baths
SORRY!, (expressed with head wobble) they often fail, which is unfortunate.
I feel rehab should be used in conjunction with, and back up to, Neltexone. Which is only available in Perth.
i think you are refferring to naltrexone.
i don`t know where you`re getting your info from but it`s not only available in perth.it`s available everywhere and is used for opiate addicts, mainly heroin addicts.
it`s also called rapid detox because it flushes the opiates from your body in days instead of weeks/months and it blocks your opiate receptors in your brain so if you take opiates it has no effect.
but cousins problems are reportedly amphetamines.

he`s hardly been hard done by,that the other charge of having a prohibited drug(valium) on him was dropped is irrelevant.
zero tolerance means just that, refusing a drug test is more than enough to breach his contract.

I hope he applies to be allowed to register for the draft.

I can't see on what grounds the AFL can refuse him.

Are you saying that you would pick him up evo?

I would.

Cousins has as much right to play as Krak, Scotland, Farmer, Whitnall, Headland, Lovett, Fevola and any other player who has been caught up with the police in the last couple of years. Has more right to play than Richard Pratt has to be a President. In fact, Cousins police record is rosier than quite a few others.

Agree with Evo, can't see on what ground he can be denied an AFL players registration.
i agree that he shouldn`t be banned by the afl.
leave it up to a club if they want to sign him or not.
but i don`t want him anywhere near our club.
he`s an accident waiting to happen.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

How big would our first game v Cralton be if we got Cousins in the PSD? Cousins v Judd. It would be a massive build up.

Not saying I would like to get him, but it would be something.

Harry has called it!!

WELCOME BEN!

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Cousins refuses a drug test... cops drop charges while his sytems cleans out, suddenly no evidence.

The thing that makes no sense his lawyer is beating his cheast that he is going to sue everyone yet why if Cousins has no problem is he being admitted into rehad?? Puzzling

Just a hypothetical thought, has Cosuins found a loop hole by refusing a blood test, did he buy himself time for body system to clean out (about 2 hours, flushing it with water, it was a hot day & I pretty sure he was carrying a bottle of water with the cops at one stage) therefore no evidence for the cops to pin him on. Did he swallow the evidence when he was pulled over?

I would say no to getting Cousins into RFC.

I''m not that fussed either way,but mainly because of age.

If he was 25 I'd grab him in a second.

We need Weagles to heed Caro's call and sack Kerr too. He would be shaweet. :)

I wouldnt have either of them near the vacinity of the RFC for obvious reasons.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Great player, but too old and too much baggage.

I loved watching him play and I am so disappointed he has shat in his nest.

A big letdown.

Oh yeah. He'd transform our midfield unbelievably.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Yes Tigers lets over look him and stay on the bottom again. The question is have that stationary circus got the guts we will see. I say get Cousins now and get some class in that team or add next season to last generation.

Ignoring reality got the Weagles to where they are now, compromised CEO Nesbitt knew about this for years and needs to be sacked, the Board and incoming President need to be replaced and another eight players given their marching orders to clean out the club. Probably the coach should be sacked too.
And some people want that legacy to come to Richmond, its just not worth it guys.

On a bigger scale if this is not cleaned up quickly this drugs problem could lead to the loss of sponsorship $$$$$$$ and loss of value of AFL football TV rights etc. This drugs problem could make the game semi amateur again and make the players have to have jobs, less idle time and less income and maybe this would start to clean up the game.
Demetriou led the game to financial fortune and might oversee the financial ruin of the game too.
Fire up Demetriou.

Yeah we could do with a dose from Ben. He would inject some speed into the list and give some substance to the midfield. ::)

Whatever Ben has been taking its obviously mild compared to the gear you're on.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

I find some of the thoughts on getting him quite staggering.

Anyone would think the Weagles were getting rid of their greatest ever footballer after giving his situation no thought whatsoever. :p

This guy by all accounts has a hard drug problem and in particular methamphetamines have be mentioned regularly.
The first time drugs and Ben Cousins were mentioned in the same breath was as far back as 2002. This isn't something he's just picked up and can easily shake.
As has been mentioned countless times by those closest to him, Ben's sick.
Why else would he be going back to rehab if this guy did not have a serious addiction?

So let's say we pick this 29 year old drug addicted footballer up and give him another shot..

What if within two weeks/months he is back on the gear and causes a massive embarrassment to OUR club? :help
I am sure the sponsors and the overwhelming majority of our supporters will be delighted with that decision.
All we will have done is inherit the very problems West Coast have sweat over in getting rid of.
Do you really think they are out to get Benny or something? They are calling his departure an absolute tragedy. No way have they made this decision lightly.

Ben's best football is behind him not in front of him.
On the other hand his biggest personal challenges are about to begin.

It would be suicide to bring him to our club and I for one will be furious if it happens.

Hear hear. No thanks for Ben at the RFC - I hope.

FWIW, I hope we (the community, the media, whoever) don't make some angel OR villian out of Cousins. He's a drug addict first and a footballer second. This is the nature of any addiction - particularly drugs. There are many thousands of drug addicts out there who don't get the support, adulation or condemnation afforded to Cousins at the moment.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

I have my doubts if he is a full blown addict, I think that has been used to soften the blow, so most will ease off and feel some sympathy.

Those who have no experience with drugs wouldnt know the difference.

I think he is more addicted to the fast life, a party boy who dabbles in drugs.

A bit like comparing the full alchoholic who has to drink every day, and the binge drinker who goes out and hits it with his mates on weekends.

Find other Ice addicts, firstly have a look what they look like, then see how many are capable of playing sport, any sport.

How do you explain the missed training sessions etc. that led to his initial 12 week suspension from his club despite never testing positive?

How do you explain his girlfriend Samantha Druce splitting from Cousins because she no longer found his 'lifestyle' desirable?

How do you explain the fact that a football club has clearly given their star player numerous chances to clean up their act before sacking them?

How do you explain not one but two extended stays in an overseas rehab facility?

There are various levels of addiction.
Not all addicts are the stereotypical images you see on the faces of meth websites etc. but that doesn't mean that they are not a liability around others. Particularly in a team environment where others are easily influenced by their leaders.

Cousins name and ability has got him through plenty of scrapes but the fallout around his 'lifestyle' is beginning to mount.

Are you sure you want to expose the RFC to Ben's issues for the short term gain he might provide?
