Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Check out what benny wore to his court hearing.

"All the while he's does it gangsta style...."
:hihi

Cousins wore silver-studded jeans, a white shirt unbuttoned to half way down his chest and blue snakeskin boots when he appeared in Perth Magistrates Court.

Tight-lipped and red-eyed, Cousins did not say a word when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Steven Heath on a charge of possessing a prohibited drug

Wow, he must have been running late from Studio 54. Awesome.

Please let Benny end up with Britney Spears in rehab, that would be a dream.

Benny's so hot right now.
Blue Snake Boots Tooheys,ya gotta pay that.

I can't believe anyone wants him out of football.

Best thing since Warrick Capper 8)

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

We need Ben, hopefully he nominates for the draft, the new Ty Zantuck.

Has anyone actually considered that Ben's pretty happy it's all over and he can just go out and party now to his heart's content?

I mean the guy's 29yrs old & with the amount of 30 yr old retirements out there he was probably looking at the finish line anyway after the Weagles won their premiership.

It would have been a tragedy in his prime but he's pretty much done it all anyway.
A truely crap post. He has finished his career so why don't we shoot him.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

this club has been riddled with a drug culture...well known within WA circles...

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

I was speaking to a friend yesterday and he claimed all that Ben had been done for was possession of Valium, which he has a precription for anyway. ??? It is part of the treatment for his addiction.

Anyone else heard anything along these lines?

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Yep it's been mentioned on the radio and has been discussed on here too djevv. There has also been mention on the radio of the possibilty of another drug being added to the charges. Who knows that's fact and what's fabrication. It seems to me, and it's the nature of message boards, that we've all formed opinions without knowing facts.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

This morning's Age only mentions Diazapem( Valium). I know it's hypothetical but,
how would it be if the Police had been overly zealous and the charges were thrown out.
Would he be reinstated, would the sports journos and pollies issue loud apologies?

It is kinda sad he has been shot before the trial

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

If it ends up that the valium charge is the only one Cousins faces this will have been an enormous bungle by the police.

And it will hit the fan.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

I see it that way to some extent too tagger. We're all quick to form opinions based on what we read in the media when we know quite well they can word things to suit their cause. However I don't believe we've heard the complete story here and Ben didn't help himself if he refused driving aptitude and blood tests as reported.

This is what I have been saying all week long Jack.

At first, when the story broke, I thought it was massive trouble for him and that serious charges would get laid. But the next day just looking at all the circumstances (i.e. the complete circus the cops purposely made out of it) and what he'd actually been charged with, I reckon the cops have been trying to get a knockout blow on him with a feather duster if you get my drift.

They may well have suceeded because yeah the refusal of a drug test doesnt look good, and yeah his AFL career might be over as well, but the actual charges and what they'll pin to him are gonna be minor. So minor in fact that in 12 months time, if the bloke is genuinely rehabilitated and in a position to play footy, this whole incident might be overlooked pretty easily and a club or two may just still entertain the possibility of having him play with them.

Long, long shot I know, but I just reckon this whole incident is starting to look very weak.

If it does get thrown out expect Ben to launch some of his own court proceedings.
It will have cost him plenty and he'll be looking for compensation.

The cops had better make sure it sticks.

The cop’s have made Ben look pretty bad in all this, and yeah, we all know he’s got serious problems. But as far as just how much pure legal impact there is to what went down earlier this week, well I reckon that’s debateable.

The cops are walking a fine line with this.

Bungle by the police? They charged him with being in the possesion of a prescription drug without a prescription. That and refusing a drug test while being in charge of a vehicle. Hardly going in hard and nothing that would come back and bite them.

Any other controversy has come from the media not the police.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

I can't figure out if the cops are walking a fine line or if they're they holding their cards close to their chest?  Hard to believe there's such a big kerfuffle over a valium or two.  No matter what the press has reported it seems fact that Ben was detained in his car for an extensive period and interviewed there on camera.  Hardly seems warranted given the information that's actually been released and/or claimed.  Nothing seems to add up to me.

A.D. said on telly last night that Ben will be discussed at a meeting next month but it's unlikely he'll be able to play AFL again.  Wonder if they'll wait for the results of the court case before making a ruling.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Valium are illegal unless prescribed aren't they? Big on the black market?

They are pretty tough on drugs over there.

Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Yeah I'm sure it's illegal to have prescription drugs without a prescription but still plenty of people are busted for posessing illegal substances at nightclub raids and just get a warning. Somehow the police actions don't match the charges and I kinda suspect there has to be more to it..
