Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

I wonder who'll be the first player from an opposing team to be fined for sledging Cousins with drug references.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

I'd be sledging. Singing the riff from the JJ cale song, probably make him play better though.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Poor Ben.
Just nipped over to the US of A for a bit of R n R 'coz he was a bit off colour and everyone's gone troppo calling him a junkie and wanting him suspended and fined.

He's never tested positive, nor confessed to having a drug problem so technically there's not a thing anyone can do to him ( and some on here used to call Miller teflon ).
The AFL knows it can't do anything so it has leaned on the Weagles to sanction Cuz for his bad behaviour in recent months knowing full well he can't be convicted on rumour and inuendo.

Beware anyone who gets caught redhanded bagging a maggot or gobbing off at an opponent in an uncouth manner for they will feel the full and righteous wrath of the mighty and vengefull Vlad and his trusty sidekick he of the Angry Ant.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Yep. Kane will be fined for being honest and doing what he felt was right whilst others.....

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

I wouldn't be surprised. The commercial media goons love to pay top dollar for a story from a moron or a *smile* who has a done something excessively stupid, illegal or irresponsible.

Agree

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

I wonder if the proceeds of crime legislation applies to this. Last time I looked taking drugs was illegal. Maybe there needs to be a conviction.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Fair point. There is a 'zero tolerance policy' (to use Patrick Keane's words) for honesty, but leniency for drug use.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Support vs Castigation ?(maybe castration might be more succesful )

I suspect the real problem lies in the Employer's Requirements to assist with support and rehabilitation, which ordinarily ought not be a problem in employer/employee situations, but how far this can be flung will be amazing in the future, let alone at the moment.

I would think that underneath Cuz's coach would be seething and would like to throw "PC" to the wind - but he can't can he? There is a veritable gulf between those that err with drugs in Olympic based sport and our favourite sport....................

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Now Cousin's has become attractive again, what a bloody hypocritical world we live in and how people change over time.

Ben was/is addicted to drugs, this makes him a drug addict. He went to the States for rehab, this meant he had drugs in his system. Ben must be suspended for a minimum of 16 weeks, the amount of suspension Justin Charles copped with his misdemeanour.

If the AFL do not punish him, then all of this is just a crooked business.

Still cant find a source for this other then bigfooty :help

3 pages on the strength of what is said on bigfootinmouth! ::)

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

Justin Charles and Lawrence Angwin must be pulling their hair out. This guy is made out to be a superstar and has a *smile* grin on his face, Justin Charles was crying and felt shame, this guy gets hand held all the way to the bank.

If he gets less that 16 its a joke, good on the dockers for slapping farmer with 6, the eagles better back this up.

Damn straight.
A Brownlow/Premiership medal seems to buy you all sorts of favours.
It's a bloody disgrace that he hasn't been suspended!

Just read this in the Age. These AFL jokers or the Eagles have NFI. For starter the Eagles say he's gunna make a statement about 'his current situation'. Is it just me, or does not being able to state the actual problem suggest ongoing denial? Unbeleivable.

Also, Anderson is crapping on about how Ben should be supported and left alone blah blah. Do these jokers consider that a kick up the arse is sometimes the best medicine? Am I being old fashioned? He's a repeat, repeat, repeat offender, then repeat again. and A primadonna overpaid superstar. All this denial and castigation of anyone who thinks he deserves sanction is just making things worse.

Spot on TS. I heard Anderson saying that Cousins is suffering a "serious condition". Does he have cancer or something. No he is a drug addict by his own choosing who got caught. People with a 'serious condition' dont get a choice when they are stricken with illness.

Enough of the sympathy already and a bit more punishment for mine.

I think he needs to be convicted Bill but I was thinking along the same lines.

Agree TS and PPT. I am worried that the AFL will go ultra soft on this issue to try to get it to blow over as they don't think that it 'looks good' for the game.

Re: Cousins Story Sold to Nine

West Coast confirmed Cousins will receive his full contract in 2007.Unbelievable.
