Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again
Never heard of a masking agent for coke or ice. Most of the masking agents commonly referred to are used to mask steroids and many of these are diuretics, designed to increase urine volume and therefore dilute any banned substance. Same thing Warnie got done for, the diuretic isn't going to make you play sport any better but what it hides very well could.
But meth. amphetamine (speed, ice and also present in E's) is also a diuretic and therefore could be performance enhancing on 2 counts.
I only have a small knowledge of the drug testing process, but would 99% believe WADA that if they said Cousins was clean when he was tested, then he had not taken coke and definately not speed in hours or even days preceding the test.
Most people who take drugs are looking for a high that Cousins probably gets every time he runs out on to the football field. To me Ben Cousins' drug use doesn't make him an addict, just a greedy d!ck head.
Dyer'ere said:linuscambridge said:Cousins had 14 drug tests and passed them all, so he hadn't taken any drugs in the 48 hours previous to the drug tests, which says a lot more about Ben Cousins drug addiction, or lack of a drug addiction, than it says about the AFLs drug testing policies.
So what do you call a bloke who can go more than 48 hours without taking drugs?? Not a drug addict in my language.
The AFL and West Coast have chosen to label him an addict so they can medicalise the problem and book him into rehab, rather than the alternative, which was to call him a cheat and a man of weak character who was unable to control his impulses to take illegal drugs.
You reckon Terry is a spin doctor, he has got nothing on the AFL and West Coast on this issue!
The weakness in your argument IMO, Linus, is that it assumes that there are no masking agents involved. I believe that there may be (although not necessarily in only Cousin's case) but I have no evidence to that effect ATM.
But it's an interesting take. And maybe you're right on the money.
If anybody has any information they'd like to share on masking agents I'd be grateful if they'd PM me. Or post if the material is within the guidelines.
I'm doing some research on the matter. Obviously, this is a general question and does not pertain directly to Ben Cousins.
I've never seen an admission published, Disco.Disco08 said:Hasn't he admitted to using ice?
