gotta love people trying to find some glimmers of proof of a knifing

all the leaks leading up to this indicated it was from the Cousins camp that this decision was made - IMO anyone who picked up anything else is looking for something to back up their own personal hope that he got stabbed
Not sure about that, most of the speculation that Cousins' wouldn't get a spot next year was from the media. Plenty of rumours around for about 3-4 weeks now that Ben was actually considering retiring himself as his body pulled up sore towards the end of the season.

Agree,l think thats what has happened

Why is that mb? Denham who broke the story on Cousin's retiring stated that the club wanted him to play on. Denham generally doesn't get much wrong.

Except for Dimma's slip of the tongue which creates doubt on who made the decision.l'm sure you will be happy now that Cuz is going Toohey's.

What was his slip of the tounge?

agree the time before this week was a lot of guesswork by the media - more referring to some reports over the last week

remember actually laughing at the report from one rag sourcing "friends of cousins" saying he would retire just days after publicly saying he wanted to play on. Since Sunday, he have had denham push this (who has gotten a lot of RFC stories this year spot on), and Healy (who is a mate of Cousins) backed this up last night

Well done Ben. Well done RFC. Handled brilliantly. Leaving the game on his own terms after all the *smile* he went through is a pretty remarkable feat.

I don't buy the "club pushed him line", some people just can't accept things at face value and are so keen to point out failings at our club that they'll find evidence where none exists.

You mean like Cousins stating numerous times that he wants to go on and play another year? That mysterious evidence that doesn't exist?

Players getting pushed happens all the time at footy clubs. They are given the dignity of retiring and going out on their "their terms" though. In saying that, it's not a big issue.

Hardwick stated that he would have liked Cousins to play next season!! It was Cousins who pulled the pin with no regrets & listening to his press conferance he sounded happy to finish in form rather than the game go past him. I hope the club keeps him in some form I see him sitting on the bench with Hardwick chatting with the players as they come off walking the boundary with them think that would be awesome!!

hmm yes interesting, "from a coaching perspective". Decision wasn't made from a "caoching perspective" though. The club many times publicly stated that they would be making a decision from a football perspective. And Cousins publicly stated many times that he was keen to play on. Yet he is not. Not hard to work out. Decision was made a long time ago and I applaud both Cousins and the Tigers for keeping it under wraps and allowing the club to ride through most of the latter part of the season without a manic media circus trailing Cousins everywhere. And subsequently allowing him to play through to the end of the season.

This whole management exercise has been very professional and not something the Tigers would have handled well at all ajust a few years ago.

You'll have a point if Cousins nominates for the draft.
