Surely you are taking the p!ss now WT - no one who is not stirring could say that. You could argue about the extent of Cuz's influence on team mates etc but membership numbers are fact.

Yep I'd like to see the evidence of such a claim.

As someone who was dead set against us picking up Cousins in the PSD, I was absolutely wrong and hope the rumours that he's going to announce his retirement tomorrow are completely wrong.
Let's hope the retirement announcement if it happens tomorrow are that he's going to retire after Round 22 2011

How do you know that? So many make similar claims. How does anyone know whata comes from Ben, what from Newmo, what from Jacko? They've been with Ben for a season or two now. Was there evidence of his particular development of the kids in the performance against the blooze?

Whilst there is little question the young players have learnt heaps of Cuz the tone of leysy point was towards how he goes about playing on the field in comparison to Tuck.

The single biggest issue this club has in a game (& has happened for years) is that when things get tough & the opposition get a run on we go into our shells. Everyone stops running to support there teammates, dont provide an option & we inevitably get totally overrun.

Cousins doesnt. He keeps running, keeps putting in, keeps offering an option for his teammates where nearly everyone on his current side doesn't.
The last qtr against Carlton was another example he set. Heads were dropped all over the place & were looking forward to a nice relaxing stretch after the match. They weren't putting in, whether thats by lack of confidence against good teams or being lazy.

Not Ben. Forever geeing the side up, he ran near the length of the ground to have a word with Jake King after he got caught holding the ball in the last.
No-one else went near the poor fella.

Kids wont learn any of the above from old Tucky which was the gist of leysy's post when talking about who we should contract for next season.

I just hope our club informs us members by email whether Cuz plays on or retires before its announced to the media.
Same applies to the re-signing of Martin & Riewoldt

Has that happened before?  I'm always disappointed at important news being broken in the media rather than on the RFC site or by e-mail to members.

Interesting. Who was the poster? Can you please post a link?

They know who they are. I would post a link but I haven't got the time to trawl though the 246 pages to find it.

It was discussed and put forward in a meeting that I was involved in earlier in the year as to how the club can best keep members informed.
They said theyd look inot it and Its about time they started doing it.

Ok I'll be more direct. I recall you chipping into a discussion I was having with benny furs in regard to membership, amongst other things. Are you referring to me amongst the "they" who know who they are?

Thanks for the reply Leysy. Still not sure I agree those things are necessarily passed on. If they learn those things from others then why they don't do them. Could be laziness or lack of confidence as you say for sure. I just don't see how the ongoing influence of another player can ever be measured or how big a factor it is in a player's career.

Good memory if that's the case Rosy. 35000 posts and you remember a specific discussion with a particular poster and also the specific poster who interjected. My memory's not that good.

Sorry but this will never happen
As soon as an email is sent then the media will get it and report on the email
By holding a press conference most of the media will initially be reporting what the club has actually said at the press conference with video, which in turn gives the sponsors exposure

I'd say you and TOO would be the first two anti-cousins posters. Do you think his drafting has been a sucess in any way?

Tiger of Old isn't anti cosuins. I found this:

(sorry i had to cut and paste, I don't know how to copy links)

Don't shoot the messenger lads, but leysy's hearing out of Perth of Cousins having had enough of his comeback.

Hopefully it's unfounded BS as it's not from any inside info, but thats the talk in certain quarters of Perth at the moment.

I hope that's not true.

Well put Leysey. Cuz's running and putting in until the final siren stood out like dog's balls on the weekend. It is however, up to the kids to take this on board and learn from it. Kids won't learn if they don't want to unfortunately.

Cousins is top shelf so if he became available you'd be mad not to consider ALL options. However at 27 he's probably only got 2 or 3 years of elite footy left in the tank so you wouldn't do anything too rash.
If WCE want to trade for Judd or Hunter on the other hand....

Here's anothr one. I say it is unfair to bag out ToO for being anti-Ben.

I recall it because I looked back during the week and mentioned the discussion, although not the details, on a recent thread.

Funny your memory recalls someone specifically questioning "whether drafting Cuz positively influenced our membership in 2009" but you can't recall who it was. They know who they are but you don't? I suggest it's more likely your claim has no substance, although would be more than happy to be shown to be wrong.

If only our backline would be as defensive as some posters have been on here recently!

Benny has certainly divided opinion, thats for sure!

Indeed he has divided opinion on here, at the club, in the media, in society.

What I don't get is the need for the false personal claims, personal judgement of others and and accusations. There would be far less need to be defensive if people stuck to facts....unfortunately that wouldn't suit some agendas. Such is Life. :hihi

If the rumours are true then a good way to end it all. Playing very well. Has decided the body is getting too old for another year. Well done Cuz and Well Done RFC.

I was in the anti-Cuz recruiting boat initially but looking back over the two years, while it hasn't been all smooth sailing, it's definitely been a positive for the club and for Benny in my opinion.
