Gary March is quoted as saying that a decision will be made about Bens future at the Club in the next three weeks.

how i read that is that he's gone and they wanna announce it before round 22 to pump up the crowd for his farewell game

Possible but a pretty risky strategy. What if the great majority of supporters and unconnected heathen from other clubs, who appear to support his re-contracting, announce a campaign to publicly boycot the game against Port and amid public demonstrations, only 5000 spectators go through the turnstyles at Etihad ?

This would bring some ...odd publicity... which could seriously compromise the clubs efforts re recruiting and sponsorship, at the worst possible time.

I suspect the early announcement is to announce a new contract but you may be right. Interesting times.

Might be a ploy by the club to get back at 2 certain people from the media.
CW:"My sources tell me the RFC will announce that Ben Cousins will not get a new contract."
CH:"Well Caro i have it on very good authority that,Thats indeed the senerio the Drug Addict Ben Cousins is facing."

2 weeks later.
BG:We at the RFC wish to announce that Ben Cousins has agreed along with the club"[Caro wetting herself at this point,While Craig is ................. leave that to your imagination]" to play on next year and has signed a 1yr contract.Thank you and up yours Caro and Craig."

pretty ambitious post... but in saying that, most of us boycotted the MCG last week protesting against the weather :p

Hope so, but this story has had so many twists and turns nothing would surprise.

I mean Demetriou actually came out and acknowledged last week that the footy club had provided a structure which had helped Ben with his addiction.

Unless I am totally misreading this there is strong and widespread support for Ben and his wish to get in another year, and I may be optimistic but I still think an announcement may be made early next week.

I have a sense that CC and Dimma see it the same way.

So long as Ben gets through tomorrow hopefully with a win and another big game, the news will be a further one year contract.

:beer

That's not a bad idea, I should have boycotted the club for delisting Patrick Bowden!

Utter lunacy. Anyone who knowingly gets involved in something like that should be chucked in the Yarra and not allowed to get out until they see sense.

wouldn't take long in the yarra

26 disposals, 16 kicks, 10 handballs, 2 goals yet again one of our best today.
If Cuz wants to play another year theres no reason why he shouldnt get another 1yr contract
