I cannot see Cuz coaching into his future. It is a romantic notion that he might transition into that role at our club.

His future lies in the media, and I think he will be very good at it.

Not sure Brodders, I think it could become an issue if the media decide to invade punt road again. Ben needs to make a choice I think. Footy or Media. Club or individual

With you on this. Either release the doco or play footy, take your pick. Will be a media circus again next year if Cousins releases the doco. We need to continue with our progression as low key as possible.

How bad can the doco be?
Weve had allegations of footballers re sexual assaults, others using drugs and have been suspended , being in the same car as a gunman etc.
The world as we know it will not end with the Cuz doco being aired and if Cuz wants to continue next year he should be given a 1 year deal.

Unless you're a doctor I think that's pretty irrelevant to the discussion.

You don't think long term drug abuse is very likely to have permanent physical effects?

lol at crutchy saying there's "no doubt about that" the tiges have decided to not keep cousins on next year. to make crutchy him look more of a fool than he already is is enough reason to keep cousins on. cousins is still in our best 10 or so players, when he gets replaced by others then that's when he should hang them up. but till then he should go on. fwiw if tuck is worth anther year then cuz definately is.

Don't discount it but I wouldn't claim to know what effect it has had on Cuz's body either short or long term.
I'd sure be interested in your views on it though Doctor Ian. ;D

I'm no doctor but I reckon whatever Cuz has done to his body (and by all accounts a fair bit), I've got no doubt it would have shortened his career by at least a year or two if not more.

So much rubbish. Ben is an employee of the RFC who has an interest in film making and an extensive experience with addiction. He has apparently made a doco which tells a lot about his experiences and is likely to provide footy followers and the community at large with solid info about the day to day ordeal, people in his situation face. If it helps one other addict, gives some inspiration to one more individual struggling to cope then great cudos to Ben amd good luck to the punter and maybe just maybe Ben has done a good job.

Keith Richards says hi ;)

Yep, while still playing well he's noticeably declined form last year. We should expect another significant decline next year.

Don't agree at all with this at all - had an interrupted preseason, his form in the last 8 since we started winning has been very good - all his stats in the last 8 are at least as good as last year. I'm undecided but if he finishes off well I wouldn't mind seeing him play another year alongside Martin & Cotchin.

See him walking the boundary with Dusty on Sunday. Will some of you experts who can't wait to see him gone please explain what was going on? Totally dumfounding really.

I'm no doctor also, but since the day we looked at him I've been more worried about his hammy than what he's smoked/snorted/swallowed/injected. Dodgy hammies on a man of his age is a worry.

Doubt it, all those years of hard running are what has taken it's toll, not the drugs

He's in better shape than our 30yo+ players from last year, and they didn't have a history like Cuz.

He's lost a yard, but that's about it.

You could mount a case for the sleeping pill situation, but if anything his body is healthier than ever and the year he took off could even extend his career.

I have no problems with his body  and I'd love to see him play on next year. Love you Benny :-*

People who worry about the fallout of his doco are misguided. If his doco airs for eg in Sept or Oct it's forgotten 1 month later and certainly will be forgotten by 2011.

Remember a few weeks the call on Ben after his "sleeping tablet" affair that it was the end of his career. Remember when he was delisted by WCE it was the end of his career. Remember when he was in LA recovering and disappeared for a few days it was the end of his career. Remember after Careys affair that it was the end of his career. Remember after Carey "glassing" his gf and also getting arrested in his Port Melbourne home that no media outlet would ever touch him again?

Dilbert had a theory that whenever the sh!tstorm came you just bunkered down, rode it out and it would disappear. Dilbert was right. People forget and move on to the next drama.

I dont see how the doco can paint the RFC in a bad light, we gave him another chance.
Also I dont think the doco will paint Benny in a bad light either, probably generate some sympathy.

By the way, could we trade Tambling?
