Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Even though his negatives outweigh the postives over the last 18 months for Ben Cousins, he would be a good addition to our midfield.
If we got a chance to pick him up the same thing could happen with our other young midfielders get less attention. Look what happened at Carlton when Judd came. He gets the first tag and the young up and comers don't. I know we are rebuilding but having Ben for a couple of years wouldn help the club with experience and skills for the young blokes. A good assest even though there is baggage.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

stay away

it's not just on the field that you have to look at
if he gets in any trouble again then it could destroy the brand of a club with implications on sponsorship/membership etc.
to big a risk for the RFC

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

So he'll be available in the Nat draft eh!

Player of his class, we'd be silly to let him slide past our 2nd rounder.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

I don't think the Tiges need the baggage. We've dragged enough of our own around for years, so let's keep doing what we are doing now and develop our new culture. Might take a year or two longer but a much safer bet.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

My first instinct is 'no', but it will be interesting to see how well he plays and trains this year.

Has to nominate for the national draft i first i think

I was just going to say something similiar, I am not sure you can just come from no where and enter the pre-season draft, otherwise this would be a loophole in the system with players picking where they want to go.

I am not up to speed with all the rules, but would say he has to re-enter the system via the ND.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

I think he has a fair way to go, the AFL are still waiting around with their checklist in the pocket, and will make him jump through all the hoops before even considering rubber stamping his return.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Great footy player and would be a great addition to any mid field in the competition. However, we can't afford to take the risk on him. I would much prefer to continue down the youth policy pathway, which is more important than ever, given the likelihood that two more clubs will enter the competition.

Sorry Ben, but you're not welcome. :police:

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Keep him out of our club.
After all that time out, probabalities are he will be a flop.
who else has been able to come back from so long out?

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

If took him with our first or second draft selection, I would be rope-able.
It would be incredibly short sighted and has the potential to make the McMahon deal look like genius.
PSD would be a different story, if he's passed as fit.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Perfect fit for the Doggies. Makes sense. If fit and healthy.

Has three to four years left in his body. Would slide into a good side, Dogs & Cats & maybe the Lions or Swans but you wouldn't him in Sydney. I like Doggies or Geelong.

I would take him in the PSD if it is shallow on. No nat draft picks.

Did Ben himself rule out Richmond or was that someone else's opinion?

What if we win 7 of the last 10 games and win a final?

We'll be seen as the rising force of the competition, similar to Hawthorn last year.

that was Robbo saying that - not Ben. Robbo also thought Cartoon had no chance either.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Yes, he does come with baggage

a Brownlow,
some premiership medallions,
a few B&F's.

He's kept out of trouble so far, who's to say he can't keep his nose clean. If you know what I mean.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

With draft picks being so prized, i cant see any club wasting an early pick on him. Would absolutely laugh if the Cats picked him up. That would be like magic johnson going to the chicago bulls in the 91 season.
