Has to nominate for the national draft i first i think
i'm sure you're right mate. I'm sure I read somewhere that vlad said he had to nominate for the ND, not the psd.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

I'd take him, but it all depends on who else is available at the time.

I'd take him in the PSD or as a late late draft pick. But our high draft picks MUST be used on youngsters

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

I'd take him depending on what it would cost us!!
With such a young list the likes of Foley Cotchin Deledio Collins Edwards etc etc could learn so much from his experience on the ground & the way he trains even if we got 2 good years out of him then get him to work with the young players.

Everyone deserves a second chance & someone will take him!!

King Thursfield Moore
Tambling Polak Newman
Richardson Cotchin McMahon
Cousins Riewoldt Brown
Morton Hughes Tuck
Simmonds Deledio Foley
Pattison Johnson White Rance

Looks ok to me rotating with Johnson Cotchin Deledio Foley Brown White Tambling & Cousins.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Yep imo if he gets his act togerther & hits some form through the VFL (if he plays), then I would take him with a 4th round pick or further if still available BUT at what price $$$ Maybe minimum wages with a performance base incentive.

IMO I believe he will end up at Melbourne.

add... he would be the ONLY recycled player I hope the club look at... the rest of the draft to be used for youth

If took him with our first or second draft selection, I would be rope-able.
It would be incredibly short sighted and has the potential to make the McMahon deal look like genius.
PSD would be a different story, if he's passed as fit.
Something of a turnaround there Tiger. Good for you.

Not a turnaround at all, I have taken this stance previously.
I was fiercely against taking Cousins in the midst of his drug addiction and I will stand by that.
No way on the planet I would have taken him then and I had my doubts he'd even get back to playing again.

However if he can show he is clean and get is getting his life on track, then he may be worth a punt at low risk with zero tolerance clause.
He is still to get back though. It isn't a done deal yet..

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

Good addition if he can be grabbed in the PSD, failing tha the LSD.

For the last 12 months you have been saying you don't want him at the RFC.

Do your research before posting what I have said.

Whilst the odds are stacked against him, good luck to him if he gets clean, I wouldn't wish harm on Ben or anyone with a life threatening habit but I am far from convinced by the argument that a football club environment is the best place for Bender to change his notorious party boy ways..

If he is 100% committed to having another shot at football then he might be worth a low cost punt in the PSD but please excuse me if I have my sceptism because some things are no longer up for argument.

So by all means let Greg Miller buy Benny a cup of coffee, just make sure it's decaffinated.

Re: Ben Cousins Returns to Footy

He hasn't even started yet but would say no thanks. No doubt about his proven ability but not a role model for our kids. Do we then get miss Corby to apply for the creche position?

Is that the best you can come up with. What a pathetic hypocrite. You have consistently bagged this bloke and bagged the idea that the Tigers should take any interest at all.

You havn't even bothered to include the whole of the post you have quoted??
And you are accusing me of slagging because I have stated a basic truth! Any one who cares to look should have a look at the Cousins thread.
Look I am delighted that people are now beginning to look at the advantages Ben might bring to Richmond. And particularly pleased to see it in someone who has been such a passionate advocate for the anti- Ben cause. As I said, well done.

What has that got to do with you being wrong?
I didn't post the rest of it because it isn't relevant to what you said.

My views in the first part of that post have not changed one bit.
Cousins is an admitted drug addict. He was a liability around his former club and likely would have been around a new one until he dealt with his problem directly. That meant getting punted from the comp for a year. If he gets back that decision by the AFL will be deemed to have been correct.

But as I said he is not back and playing AFL again yet & Benny's battle will be a constant one for the rest of his life but if he can show he's clean and can prove he's been off the gear for some time then it might be worth a (low)risk in the PSD.

I don't see anything hypocritical about that at all.

Cousins at 30? At 25-26-27 yeah sure take a risk, but there is no point now. Cousins will undoubtedly get picked up and there might even be a batltle for him, he has premiership experience and is a class act for a team on the verge of the big win. He wont go PSD and if he does it will be for a decent price on his head, so the only alternative will be using a high draft pick. Am I anti-Ben? No he's a great player but please we're growing our own, let's stick with the plan.

It was relevant in the sense that Ben will always be an addict and your threads consistently bemoaned the idea of putting an addict in a football club enviroment because of the impact that may have on young players. No where do you suggest he should come to Richmond in any circumstances and your about face is and now denial is a hoot.
