Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Yep, valid point.

Andy Dimtiwho bring charges against Pratt get real its never going to happen.
Now its upto Cuz and his legal team to see if the decision brought down is legal. Whats stopping Cuz going to court and obtaining an injunction so that he can play till the case has been dealt with by the courts?
Dont remember which AFL player it was but they went to court got an injunction and they were allowed to play in a final after being suspended only to drop the case later and cop a suspension.

He made no mention of accepting the decision and aiming to return to the AFL in 12 months' time, just said he hadn't given up hope of playing football. Could well be weighing up his legal options at this moment.

god I hope so.

He apoloised for his behaviour to the AFL and admitted he is a drug addict.
I doubt he will be taking this any further whatsoever.

Best he now just concentrates on getting himself well.

They took 9 hours to make a decision that could have been made in a minute.

What the hell were they doing all day? Deliberating over a long lunch perhaps.

Tell you what....the AFL commissioners and Adolf Demetriou wouldn't want to have any skeletons in the closet that could come back to bit them on the ass after adopring the moral high ground approach.

Certainly agree re Richards.

Re Cousins though no doubt there would be some negative press towards our club if he has ongoing problems and if we punt him because of it then we are further behind the 8 ball than we are already.

Richmond sells papers and of course they will take us to task on the decision we make, particularly if he does fall over. You can bet on it.

After all we have the choice not to select this player.

You have to expect the good with the bad jb. Can't just take all the credit if he does well.
Life doesn't work that way.

Whatever happens I hope the club is aware of it's responsibilities and makes a very carefully considered decision.

I have it all worked out. If we pick him and he succeeds, I'm taking all the credit. If it blows up in our face I'm blaming you for your constant negativity.

Bloody Tooheys and his constant negativity. It's all his fault.

Sounded quite pleased with how far he'd come in his rehabilitation and didn't give the impression he thinks he needs 12 months off to recover. Wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a court challenge until Cousins rules it out.

I'd love to see him test out the restraint of trade option...could be a floodgates issue if he gets it up though.

If that happens it will be long, drawn out and expensive.

He is not coming to Richmond.

Which club would want to draft him after 12 months out of the game and a year older?

No club imo, why would you?

if he's clean and fit at the end of next year some club will take him, no doubt about that. and you would because he would still be one of the best players in the competition.

wce should have suspended him for 12 months earlier this year to let him know his behaviour was unacceptable, then maybe he would have been ready to play in 2008.

I wonder if we didn't have the first pick in the PSD ifso many people would have been so concerned about Cousins being able to play on.

I think this was a good outcome for Cousins and the AFL.

Charles got 16 weeks for using steroids, so I think Cousins should consider he has been pretty lucky.

I think you should be quite pleased we are not hiring a guy with a serious drug addiction.

then we had better start looking at all people we are thinking of taking in the draft as we need to make sure there are no wife beaters, gamblers or anyone else that has a serious addiction of any sorts. Yes drug addiction is serious but not as serious as the media made it out to be in Ben's case. Gosh I could name another 5 or 6 players right now that should not be allowed in the league as they are a risk and more, a blight on our game. Where is the fairness?

I think Bens case IS pretty serious and this is why he has found himself in the position he is now in.

He has now admitted his drug addiction, now people need to accept this and let him get on with his recovery.
