Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Which club would want to draft him after 12 months out of the game and a year older?

No club imo, why would you?
He could play until he's 35.

Bring on the legal action.
After all which team will draft a player whos 31yo 2009. If Cuz agrees to stand out I think thats the end of his career.

Cuz needs to get away from all the AFL *smile* and get his head right before anyone should consider trying to put him back on the field.
If he sorts himself out and cleans up his act he is good enough to play again.

Agree...what will he do in that 12 month period? 12 months of unemployment surely isn't conducive to ridding yourself of a drug habit. He would be better served staying active and occupied and playing football in a new environment would have been a major means of doing that.

Won't happen. Even if it did it would achieve little. Any legal action would be lucky to be concluded by 2009.

Its simple, Ben has bought this upon himself, no one forced him to make the choices he made that lead to this situation.

I wish Ben good luck in his recovery. Hope he can make it.

I actually think its a good outcome for him. It gives him 12 month to get his life together and take a bit of the spot light off him during this time.

So when is the AFL going to bring charges against Pratt; since they have taken the moral high ground?

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

well what an insipid announcement - Vlad and his cronies not wanting to talk about other such acts that could be classified as bringing the game into disprepute. Ben didnt say anything so he must agree with this decision. Ben did say he was a lot further down the track with his recovery than has been reported.

He is gone now - Port may take him next year as they said but who will want him now - he will be a has been for sure by then and I wouldnt wanna touch him in a year.

What then does this mean to the Weagles? They will have to be found guilty of a lot of things if they found Ben guilty - I hope they throw the book at them.

Wonder if uncover if the decision is legally binding - that is the question.

Yep, valid point.

bet he doesnt do a thing

He made no mention of accepting the decision and aiming to return to the AFL in 12 months' time, just said he hadn't given up hope of playing football. Could well be weighing up his legal options at this moment.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Weak, insipid decision from a dictatorship way out of touch with reality and the general public. Shameful. Hang a bloke for a problem perpetuated by the AFL's own policy making. Unfortunately after hearing Cousins speak I doubt there will be any legal action though L2r2r makes a valid point.

Pandering to the softo journalists Sheahan, Wilson and Smith who will all support the decision.

They took 9 hours to make a decision that could have been made in a minute.

The penalty was widely tipped in the media during the past few days. Obviously pre-determined.
