World Cup 2018

That being the case Posh. If both teams play their A-Team and go all out, could well be a bit of a goal feast. Could we see a total of 6-7 goals scored between them for the match?

So, higher scoring than some AFL teams this year

England looked very good. Lingard is a star. Belgium looked pretty exciting as well.

Belgium have been the best to watch so Aussies aside, i'm on their bandwagon.

Hopefully the Aussies can beat Peru and get past Denmark into the next round. But for all the positivity around our performances we still have to overcome the recurring problem of most Socceroos teams over the years; we really struggle to score against quality opposition.

So far we've played 2 games and have yet to score a goal in general play. That's nowhere near good enough to get you far in a World Cup.

As mentioned earlier, England's defence doesn't look world class. When you've got De Bruyne, Hazard and Lukaku running at you, you need to have the same discipline and focus that Australia had when we held off Griezmann, Mbappe and Pogba. Gareth Southgate is no Bert van Marwijk.

We should start Arzani in place of Kruse. Kruse to come on in the second half, having fresh legs will help him. Luongo ahead of Jedinak too.

What are peoples thoughts on Arzani and Cahill in the team. Let's assume both are only good for 1 half of high intensity play. Do we have 1 in each half or do we put in both at the same time? They would have played and trained together at City so you'd think they'd know each others game.

Either we start both, hope for a lead and then defend like we can in the second half. Or keep it even in the first half hopefully wearing out to Peruvians and then blitzing them with the Timmy and Danny show. Or we split them. That's why Bert gets the big bucks.

Yep good calls Spook. We need to mix it up; do something different than we have in the first 2 games. We must be able to score goals in general play to win. An attacking mindset right from the start should be the objective. Put the pressure on the Peruvians right from the start. Because one thing is certain in this game; we don't score we don't progress.

Bring em both on in the second half Cahill is too old and slow for first half but hed be very dangerous in the second with the wind out of some defenders, he still has that jump to ping those headers in.

Interesting scenarios Baloo. I'd be in favour of starting them both and attacking heavily in the first half.

Lukaka is a doozy
They have two super athletic African strikers, Batshuayi the other one (he could have scored at least once more). Hazard is a quality No.10, quick and creative. Ditto DeBruyne in the midfield and Mertens on the wing. I like them a lot.

Definitely Arzani should start. Only 19, should be fit enough to run out a game. Cahill no, last 10 minutes if we need to score. He is 38 and barely played in the last year.

Agree - love to see Arzani start.

Cahill only in the last 15 - why have him in the squad unless he is their to mentor the team

Uruguay v Russia pretty entertaining early in the game - Rusky a goal down

Make that 2 down.

I like how Uruguay aren't afraid to pull the trigger on long shots, there's always the chance of a deflection as there was for the 2nd goal. I'd like to see the Socceroos have ping lot more than what they have been.

Shoulda coulda been 3 - 1and Rusky down a man

Timmy is there hoping to be one of a handful that have scored a goal in 4 world cups. He’s done a lot for Australia and won games of his own boot. Always available and always gives 100%

So say he’s on the pitch deep in the match. We get a penalty. If we score we go through. If we miss we’re out. Mile is there. Do you let Timmy take the penalty?
