When will Bernie go !!

Given the improvement and the focus on youth this year - suggest he is now safe for 2018 also - it would have to be an almighty cliff for that to change imo

That could have the darksiders and naysayers heading for the cliff instead.

They will smash us when we play them. Hinkley is a much better coach than Hardwick!
Are we playing them at home or away?

Hinkley and Beveredge are the templates for how a coach comes in to a bottom 4 side tipped to wallow in the bottom rungs and turn things around.

It is not incremental or apologetic like the Hardwick model.

It starts with belief (in the list available) and boldness in selling a new gameplan. Hardwick basically told everyone were not good enough and we will recruit aged hasbeen3rd graders to top up for the first 5 - 6 years.

Also it requires footy smarts and an understanding of offence, Hinkley more a devotee of attack than Bevo but nevertheless you don't win finals by percentages alone. You need to take the game on.

As time goes on you can fashion the side you want with some luck and good recruiters UNDER your guidance. This of course is another fail when you look at the state of our list in about year 6. We have played catch up last few drafts but still in a position where we have drones such as Hampson Elton Morris and Hunt on the list. Unforgiveable!

Anyway Hinkley looking at final series 3 in five years to add to a PF appearance and 3 finals win. Bevo looking at final series 3 in 3 years already with a flag in the locker.

Meanwhile no finals wins Hardwick in year 8 continues to be startled by loud noises and red herrings, over analysing and under-understanding what the heck is going on.

Beating Hawthorn isn't that impressive this season.
They didn't just beat them they smashed them especially,The first half.
When was the last time we comprehensively smashed a side under Hardwick?

Can bernie beat a scott brother?

he only has two wins against a Scott brother beating North's seconds team in round 23 2015 and r5 2011. Has been close last three against Geelong losing by an average 6 points.

2 wins 15 losses

Hardwick must be an inside joke in the Scott household.

The strategy of going into this game small is a big test for Hardwick's coaching abilities. Huge game for him and the club.
If Norf beat us again..

I am not Damian's biggest fan but I wont bag him in selection for going small if we lose. You've got to play the cards you've been dealt and it is clearly adventurous and very unlike Hardwick. I assume it is a decision the group came to after weeks of mulling "Why Elton".

You can put the blame on List management on why we've come to this spot. Why are Elton and Hampson still on the list? Why were non performing talls given so many opportunities ahead of young talented talls. That is another story though.
