When will Bernie go !!

I respectfully disagree. Prior to last year when we were crap against everyone our record against the top3 between 2013- 2015- the Hawks, Dockers and Swans would have been as good as anyones.

Plus obviously Geelong who finished ahead of Freo 3 of those years.

Record 6 wins 9 losses. For a team that finished 5th, 8th, 5th.

Point 1 in Bold: that equals Clangers, plus Frees given away (although believe we get hard done by umpires)

Point 2 in Italics: I see B17 also agrees with me.

As above Leonie.

Aren't we also high up the list of free kicks against? These are counted as clangers too? Perhaps our actual turnovers by hand or foot are not as dire as the stats suggest. (although i applied the eye test at the brisbane game and the result was pretty dire...)

Yes we are top for frees against. But the difference per game between top and bottom is only 5 frees so even if we took away frees from the clanger count we're still up there at the top. Then there's the question of how many of those clangers turn into free kicks? Does a clanger create a free kick or does a free kick create a clanger? The mind boggles :)

We can analyse it to death.
What I see with my eyes is a team that isn't doing much wrong but has two major problems, which are probably linked to each other
1. We don't convert. When we win we don't win by as much as the number of opportunities we have would suggest we should. When we lose ( except for 2 games) we definitely have enough opportunities to win
2. We need a marking outlet down the line/ chf desperately.

None of this is rocket science and is in the hands of the recruiters and coaches.

I'm bullish ATM.

took a big step today. players responded after a poor start.

needs to ignore his controlling instincts.

prestia said after the game that there were certain plans in place for their mids in the first quarter. after quarter time our mids just reverted to the natural style of the first few rounds.

I tell ya, dimma needs to be reminded not to meddle from week to week. you'd think he would know by now.

trusting in his players will save his career.

Well... kind of right. Dimma put Prestia on Shiel given he'd done a great job on Zorko last week. At quarter time he did say "well that ain't working, lets play our natural game."

Good to see some adaptability creeping into Dimma's mindset though, I agree.

Yep. Dimma coached the first quarter, then was overpowered by Leppa and Blake and locked in the broom-cupboard. Well played LeppaFlyCella.

I'm guessing a Leppacella took the reins at quarter time?

Something I have been wondering about. Is Dimma now the messiah or is it that the new coaches the club appointed this year been the difference?

DH is getting all the credit, but hear little of our specialty coaches. Is it possible they are the reason the team has improved so much this year??

In all interviews this year Dimma has mentioned the new coaching team brought in new ideas, new drive and he's made it a point to listen.

But ultimately he's the head coach. The buck stops with him, win or lose.

They've been getting plenty of credit. Almost any media comment on our improvement this year mentions the change in coaching staff and backroom staff over the summer.

But any weekend where the main complaint is that "Dimma is taking all the credit" has to be a good weekend for the Tigers.

It's been another great weekend at Bernie's.

Nearly August and we're a game clear in 4th. half a game out of 2nd.

and with two blokes over 190 in the front 2/3rds of the ground?

I'm sure theres none left in here who would disagree,

It's been an extraordinary coaching performance.

virtuoso wouldn't be a stretch even.

Just imagine if Beavis had stayed in the US for another couple of months instead of returning. He would have learned a lot more from that.

Yep. To be 11-6 with the team we have is a great performance I reckon.

gotta go surely 8-

just kidding, dummy.

seriously though, great coaching effort today in a finals-like pressure cooker :clap

It's very interesting. No doubt a great performance today. Despite the injuries most would say GWS is still clearly a more talented side but we really toughed it out and overwhelmed them in difficult conditions. That is not a trait often seen in RFC sides of recent times.

But IMO the big test is next week. How do we back up this very good effort against GC? Will it be similar to the aftermath of the Port game where we clearly fell in love with ourselves and basked in the glory of all and sundry saying how well we were doing? Or do we put our heads down and take care of business against a team to which we are clearly superior? Which Richmond turns up next week?

It is going to be very interesting to see how it plays out. We have a poor record against GC in Queensland. Pretty sure it's 3 losses and 1 win and the only time we played them at Metricon was a loss.

Time to get professional Tigers and do what good teams with top 4 aspirations do.

Suns just about out of contention for the 8, maybe a tiny mathematical chance. Good time to play them and we've been good interstate this year.

If Bernie can win a final do hope Peg & Co do not rush in an give him an extension beyond 2018. Just wait & see how the teams performs next year as it might be Dusty free.

If we don't extend this year we run the risk of losing him to the Pies or GCS. Even the Bombers would be keen to get an ex Bomber back at the helm.

COTYs are often in high demand.
