Welcome Tom Brown

Tom Brown (18 disposals, six marks, six rebound-50s)

"Once again, he used the ball brilliantly throughout the game. His decision-making and ball use is at a high level at AFL standard, and when he's playing at VFL level it really stands out. Hopefully he gets his opportunity to shine on the big stage in the near future."

End The Farce.

How many possessions from kick outs? I'm wary about such raw numbers.

Hmm, a half back flanker hey? When will he do his apprenticeship as a medium forward then?

The big knock on Brown is contested footy, how did he go winning the hardball?

The role he plays he doesn't need a heap of contested possessions. Take Vlastuin as an example as they play very similar roles, Vlastuin runs at about 30% contested possessions. Broad similar numbers.

Vlastuin was a contested beast at junior level, never a doubt about his ability to win the hardball. Elie kicking is great but there needs to be other weapons to draw on, Lennon was a decent kick but not much else, Witherdon another who is a bit of a down hill skier, Jordan McMahon a lovely kick but undeniably soft. If Brown is closer to Vlastuin then that's great but I have some reservations about that comparison.

Plus it’s his ability to read the play and impact the contest is his strength. His footskills are elite. Looks laconic but but execution is top notch. Can split the game open with his ball movement off half back.

You are referring to Vlastuin the midfielder not the half back/interceptor he has made his name for as an AFL player.

Nonetheless both Vlastuin and Brown play an almost identical game.

I certainly hope so, those are actually pretty big shoes to fill, Vlastuin probably the equal of Enright, despite being routinely snubbed by AA selectors.

I wish we would stop comparing him to Vlastuin. Different type.
He is a hybrid type back. Tall enough and good enough in the air to be an interceptor but also the player you want with the ball in his hands as an outlet.
I watched the vfl game and he wouldn’t have had more than 3-4 kicks ins.
If he gets a game let’s just enjoy seeing a young tiger.

I agree to an extent. He is very much playing the same role as Vlastuin in the VFL. If we want a proper comparison think Tom Stewart.

Yep not a bad comparison. Hard to compare players.
To me he plays less intercept than Vlastuin and Stewart and more run and receive.
He plays more intercept than say Short but less run and receive.
To me he could also be a winger

Absolutely unequivocally not true. Vlastuin will & has taken himself into places that angels fear to tread.

I‘m open to trading Vlastuin but the above statement is a huge disservice to Nick. Chalk and cheese.
