Welcome Tom Brown

And? Who cares.

It's how they finish mate, not how they start. Not that I'm saying he's comparable, but plenty of players start off slow. Cotchin was injured heaps. Nankervis couldn't get a game for Sydney.

Fair dinkum, if jvr was picked one pick before Brown, there wouldn't be any of this crap for this poor kid.
Fair indicator of how things look today. Get off the cross and stop carrying on!

Its got nothing to do with JVR, its about judging the quality of the pick overall.

Yep, wouldn’t be shocked to see him get thrown in next week for the experience.
He came in with a skinny frame. He has had injuries. It’s now starting to come together.

I understand the debate of whether he was the type if player we needed. But talent wise he has all the hallmarks of an AFL player.

Number games played in the first 2-3 years of a young players career is an excellent indicator of where that players career will finish. Yes, there are exceptions but they are just that, exceptions.

We need to let go of this false assumption that players “just need time to develop”. The reality is, for the vast majority of good players that go on to have decent careers, they play early and play often. If they aren’t a regulars at AFL level by the end of their third season, then they likely never will be.

I disagree.

You can have players "ready to go" who are waiting for someone to make way at AFL level. I understand folks like Scoop's and Don't Argue's frustration that we picked a back flanker instead of a) KPF or b) pure mid.
But we picked Brown, and we picked him for a type. I'd see that as a third tall Vlaustin or Broad replacement. While they're in that role, he's not getting a game. Could they develop him as a wingman to replace Pickett or McIntosh? God I'd have hoped so.
But I'm not selling stock in Brown. He'll be fine, for us or someone else if we can't give him a game. Waa he the right pick for us, time will tell.
But 2 seasons in? Please, he's got time on his side.

Checked RFC listed as 193cm 81kg if true he’s same height as Van Rooyen
Brown just needs to put on a bit more weight
193 odd and 88-90 kgs is Grimes and Broad size.

Handy size for a winger if he could play there.

A bit like Gibcus you mean? Played AFL from the start of his career at RFC and showed he has the goods for a fine career. Bad luck with his hammy injury but assuming we get that right he is one to watch in Y & B for some years

No it’s a mistake but for some reason it hasn’t been fixed up. Is 187cm

Great post. You wait longer for bigs not flankers.

Every player is an individual. Making assumptions about them is fraught with danger

He was mooted to make a very early debut in 2022 and was injured and wasn't really ready last year. This year he broke his wrist and lost half a season, came back and worked into some excellent form and could have been picked for the last month at least.

I'm not really concerned that he hasn't debuted yet, although I think he should have
