Although I think he can change his own fortunes by lifting defensively. If he's dropped it'll be for lack of defensive urgency. I don't think he will be. I believe we want him to attack the ball and maybe even open with a cheapie to get his dander up.
A few more notes on George:
He's a different athlete/specimen to others in our growing mosquito fleet. For a start he hits the contest much harder. Because he's just as quick and bigger. And he has these rips, not turns, rips in the air and at ground level. He is explosive. And punches above his weight. He doesn't fully know that yet.
He isn't mature. Young for his football years. He's not a complete player and at times he still gets lost. I wouldn't be writing him off. Has huge upside. I think this guy's the future.
jamo said:I think the small forward plan has been found out and defences are already countering it, no doubt train tracks Dimma will flog the smame plan all year, even when it stops working, it will be something to do with good sides, our process not being followed and not playing how we want to.
The real reason will be no plan B, if they wake up and if one of them goes, it should be Castagna. Butler and Rioli offer more, I would be bringing in Lennon as a leading forward.
easy said:his 2017 numbers are pretty good for a small forward. 13 disp, 4 tackles and a goal a game. plus the immeasurable chaos.
I dont get the george angst
tigerdell said:he's not just playing a small forward role, he's stepping up into the lids/lennon role of leadup forward.
Defensively he hits fast and hard, but last week johannisen ran riot. schooled the kid in the second half.
that the norm smith medallist is all over a rookie in his 12 game is not important. but come the end of the year it is.
george has to learn, he has 15 matches.
he's not there to be pretty or to have rioli class. best comparison is picken at the dogs - dogged, competitive and bringing the heat
