Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Needs to have a spell in the twos and work on "compares". Time for Sammy Lloyd.

Struggling a tad at the moment, def needs to find that bit of composure when he gets the pill n stop changing his mind half a dozen times. Perhaps a run or two in the magoos with a little less intensity to settle him down a bit.

Was much busier tonight. But didn't break out. He looked like he was going to at one stage there.

Promising player ten or so games into his career.

yeah I don't get the negativity. he tries to make things happen, which we need much more of.

I think I'd prefer Lloyd at present due to the fact we really need somebody else to take a grab down there , however the forward line has functioned well and though his stats are not great his part of the much improved pressure unit.

If Stengle has somewhere near AFL standard fitness he'd replace him next week, Bolton like wise, though I'm not convinced Shai has the work rate just yet, may just be his simply not fit enough at this point.

Still very rough but has great potential. Last night playing Lloyd ahead of Castagna is probably the difference between winning and losing but then against West Coast he's probably helped us get the win instead of a close loss. It's a hard one, I probably prefer Lloyd at this stage just so Castagna can work on his disposals. The only other thing you don't see easily in many stats are pressure stats. Castagna and Butler are often way up there in that area.

Problem is, unless he is shooting for goal, he makes the wrong descision every time. His lack of foot skills and footy smarts really lets him down. Its not something that is easily fixed. Prefer lloyd

still a live wire and can cause havoc..just needs a cool head and some polish..has enormous potential..id play looyd over markov next week and keep George in

Most "try". It's whether they're "able to".
He does try , no one is saying he's any different.
But he lacks in most facets of the game. He just lacks any footy IQ.
If only "tries to make things happen" is the prerequisite. We'd all be happy with what we've got and where we are.
Not me, we can and must do better.

Was hoping he'd get a run of games to see if he's up to it, and right now I'm doubtful. No doubt there's great pressure there but when he's got the ball he runs around like a headless chook and stuffs up too many golden opportunities for goals. His kicking for goal is also ordinary as well. Lloyd should definitely come in for him

"Do or not do, there is no try".

Not sure, wins contested ball, takes contested marks, makes tackles. Holds onto the ball too long but at least he has it in hand. I would persevere. I would be inclined to give Rioli a rest, he looks sore.

I'd imagine over the next 12 months Georgie will be overtaken by the likes of Bolton and Stengle in his forward role, however before his thrown on the scrap heap, I'd like too see him given an oppurtunity as a run with mid, we have a very attacking midfield , who don't run as hard back as they do forward, Georgie may have the discipline to do the run with role.

george stays for mine.

our mids have been suffocated by two very good sides.

not conducive for the type of entry our smalls feed off.

agree. Livewire. short circuits a bit more than we'd all like, but a livewire. The stuff he tries to do and does is at the extreme end of degree of difficulty. That standing start contested mark last week was a doozy, real bummer he missed the soda set shot. Sort of sums him up ATM, does the hard bit then stuffs up the easy bit. If he can get it together, wow.

In saying that, I have faith in the coaches on his management. Keep in in, fine, give him a spell in the seconds, fine.

I'm stumped, Baz. Are there only a few of us who like him? I think his form is ok, BTW. Not good but acceptable for the role. They have good weeks and average weeks. Although I think he can change his own fortunes by lifting defensively. If he's dropped it'll be for lack of defensive urgency. I don't think he will be. I believe we want him to attack the ball and maybe even open with a cheapie to get his dander up.

A few more notes on George:

He's a different athlete/specimen to others in our growing mosquito fleet. For a start he hits the contest much harder. Because he's just as quick and bigger. And he has these rips, not turns, rips in the air and at ground level. He is explosive. And punches above his weight. He doesn't fully know that yet.

He isn't mature. Young for his football years. He's not a complete player and at times he still gets lost. I wouldn't be writing him off. Has huge upside. I think this guy's the future.

Not negative but gone off the boil a bit. Lots of small forwards pushing for selection means you can't afford to go off atm. Shai, Lloyd, Edwards and Stengle all have claims
