Not rewriting history. Its truth. And not saying he didn't miss goals, every player does, he may have had a lower conversion rate than most, I have no idea. I'm saying the greater the need for the goal, the greater the likelihood he'd kick it.Well thank goodness he got the clutch goals coz he missed plenty of others.
Come on mate, let’s not rewrite history. George was a terrible finisher. He kicked more ripper snaps when he didn’t have to think about a set shot. He’s no different to Bolton now who misses plenty he should kick.
Luckily for us, none of his 5 points in the 2019 were “clutch” kicks. Even when gws were a goal in front in the first qtr.
But as I said his effort and work rate were elite. Kicking, especially for goal and hand balling were poor. It’s not downplaying his skills, it’s what they were.

Good post. His demise began when Dimma started playing him up the field. His main strength was bringing the heat in the fwd line both in the air and on the ground.Pressure is the difference between football and training. The more pressure, the better the football. Dusty moments are a by product of pressure. Without pressure they are just party tricks.
George brought pressure. Aerial pressure when he was played as #3 tall. And he was elite in this endeavour. When the bad guys take a mark in our I50 that's real bad. Remember last week? It's real bad.
Dogwick took George out of the tall role. And played him as a crumbing small. And sent him up the park to develop him. Played him high HF. George struggled in the role and lost his main strength - his ability to halve in the air, his ability to minimise oppo marks in our 50.
All small forwards have to find a new role in their careers. They all got to high HF, change mid or HBF. George did not adapt. Did not develop in these roles.
But. If he plays against Hawthorn last week he disrupts that uncontested mark jamboree *smile*.
*We can get somebody else to do that.*
In the entire AFL there is nobody who can do that the way George did. Maybe Zurhaar if he had the discipline. Or the physical confidence.
George, out of position, facing an aerial 20/80 could halve routinely. Because of his explosive speed and surprising momentum. He hit way harder than his mass ought to have allowed. Halving, when hopelessly out of position, is an elite characteristic.
George is still an athletic freak. Marlion is next in line for us. But he doesn't have the indestructible body of George, nor the natural confidence.
Mykelti will be out for most of next year. SRSLY we should get George back for a year. The usual incentives - solid gold house and captaincy.

If a fit George had played last week Scrimshaw would've locked himself in the boot of his own car, Harry. We miss George. I'm serious about bringing him back.Good post. His demise began when Dimma started playing him up the field. His main strength was bringing the heat in the fwd line both in the air and on the ground.
I don’t believe that to be true.I noticed Jonathan Brown on On The Couch say AFL rules now state a retired player cannot return to the league again. Is this true?
Too late .I revere all players who have played in premierships for the RFC. George played in 3.
Physical attributes off the charts. Prefer the roughly hewn George to the highly skilled Sonsie everyday of the week.
Would welcome him back with open arms…
I wish we could get a bit of George's competitiveness into a few of these touted draft picks.
One thing I don't think gets mentioned enough about JC was his speed & crazy lateral movement. Ballistic player at his best.
