I want to see a signed note from Costanza confirming this, I don't remember it being common knowledge at the time but I always did lack common sense. Its common knowledge it was a significant factor at the very least
you reckon he retired coz of the supporters?
He didn't blame Richmond supporters who bagged him and couldn't understand him or see what he brought to the team. But it got to him and contributed to his early retirement. When he faces his own backline to kick a goal it shows how bad his kicking was. That’s him acknowledging it himself. Couldn’t kick, couldn’t handball, hardly marked and missed tons of sitters from in front of the goals. Maybe he should have improved his basic skill set while being paid as a professional footballer.
But as I’ve said, I’ve never knocked him for lack of effort. Ever.
He did well to become a millionaire from football and win 3 premierships. Can hardly feel sorry for him. Plenty of players retire due to the mental toll the game takes. Not many blame their own supporters.

Never missed the clutch goal. Always made important contributions, loved by his teammates.I just always remember him kicking a clutch goal, I think it was the 2019 PF,
DS
No abuse in my post.No excuse for the abuse.
Who are you talking to? Me?Aren"t the george haters pathetic? Don"t disguise your disgust with faint praise about effort.
Well rewarded player with 3 premierships. Even with such a skill setCritical player. Loved player. Key player. Bravo george, never forgotten
Missed plenty of them. You must have been drunk watching him if you think he never missed a clutch goal. Or just taking the *smile*. No doubt he was a great bloke and loved by his teammates.Never missed the clutch goal. Always made important contributions, loved by his teammates.
Criticism is fine, but distortion is not. George was one of our best clutch goal kickers. The more we needed it, the more likely he was to kick it.Missed plenty of them. Would you say George was a good kick? I highly doubt even his most ardent admires would say that with a straight face.Funny how George managed 160+ games despite being a ‘terrible’ kick
So what. Different teams, Different structures, different coaches. No surprises there.yet we’ve got a few kids now (from the same draft btw) that are all supposedly very good kicks yet will collectively struggle to play as many games as George did.
Well that’s not hard too hard work out. Coaches see different strengths in players. It’s almost as if competitiveness and a dose of athleticism will take you further in the modern game than just being a nice kick.

Well thank goodness he got the clutch goals coz he missed plenty of others.Criticism is fine, but distortion is not. George was one of our best clutch goal kickers. The more we needed it, the more likely he was to kick it.
