Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Edwards,Rioli,Lloyd,Castagna,Butler

All must play Round 1 as well as the dress rehearsal new saturday also

I want to KILL Carlton with Speed

The thing I really like about George is he knows his way through traffic. He ain't just a straight liner.

Quick, evasive, bold. If he can work on consistency in his kicking we'll have ourselves an exciting player who could even move into the middle at times. Fingers crossed.

I think butler has done more and we won't play both. Not with Edwards and Rioli already.

Can't play too many smalls up fwd who haven't proven they can rotate through the midfield and pick up 20 touches.

I think your right Barnzy, I prefer JC over Butler though

No room for George in R1.
We have Taylor "The Butcher" Hunt in red hot form and ready to be unleashed to Just Play by Dumma.

George is one I had a good look at in the VFL last season. It seemed to me that at the time he was too ready to collide. And even at VFL level was not physically big enough for that.

He was learning to find space. To avoid collisions and get out the back or behind the ball defensively and to hunt successfully. Still a bit in and out at VFL level but a real improver. He wasn't quite ready for AFL at the time but got a bit of a run. Good stuff. George looks a few kegs heavier to me. Might be three. That's a big help for him.

I'm a big fan of his work. But getting to space more often, finishing, and successful chase/tackles are the areas we want him to improve on. Numbers.

In 2017 we find ourselves with a genuine #1 small mid/forward in The Prince. We have to surround him with real pace.

ShEd is not in the league of any of the new boys pacewise. (FWIW I'm not sure George is that much quicker than ShEd over 20m. But he starts quicker.) Rioli is a lock. ShEd will play and Butler is very likely as it stands.

Lambert is going to play. So there's a fair chance George spends more time with Fly. He may face competition from Stengle too.

Interesting times.

Surely not.
I'd like to think so, too, spook. But Lambert is one of those poorly skilled, hard working types that our coach loves. He'll play Lambert every chance he gets. I don't dislike Lambert as much as many here do, but I wouldn't play him at George's expense, especially given what we've seen this pre season.

Lambert is M7/HFF. He plays the same position as Josh Caddy. And Shane Edwards. And now Daniel Rioli.

So he couldn't possibly get a game in that position. I reckon he'll be on the bench.

What we can agree on is that he's in a group competing for those small forward/change mid slots. With George.

Hardwick made sure to emphasise that George is a rookie in his presser.
3 years on the rookie list and they still don't want to promote him.
After what we have seen this pre season I agree with others he's deserved that much at least.

Jason looks the most likely but are they hesitating over Soldo. Sure Nank is firing on all cylinders, but Hampson is already down with a back injury and Griffiths has hurt a calf plus never too hardy. Is EEvan really still up to competing with a top young, aerobic ruckman the likes of Kreuzer/Phillips/Grundy/Cox if, dare I say it, Nank has to miss some games? Has he got the pace any more?

Soldo has shown signs, and maybe needs promotion now to actually develop and take the next step.
