Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Played awesome in the middle last week so Dimma plays him off the ball for the majority of this week?

Hardwick is a clown.

Only when Castagna got on the ball did he impact the game. Keep him in there ffs.

I know it's fashionable here to bag Hardwick and his handling of the youth at the club ( I agree that he and the club are terrible at development and worry that these promising youngsters will be considered duds in a few seasons because of the way they've been coached to play the game), but I think people have it a bit wrong on George. Hardwick mentioned him last year in more than one of his dissections and said that he was close to selection before being injured. I don't think he should have been dropped after his two earlier season games, but he was and he's come back better for it. He was also singled out for praise by Hardwick after the game yesterday.

You think Lids going down might have influenced where he spent the majority of his time?

What, you mean he isn't a pampered private school boy that most of the AFL lists are made of these days?

A bit of overreach there David. Is that players like Gawn, Minson, Martin, Ballantyne, Swan, Batchelor, Viney et al. I assume by pampered, you mean soft?

Who are our pampered private school boys at RFC, apart from TV? Most of these kids who went to/go to private schools because they are outstanding athletes and are there on sports scholarships, not because they are pampered silver spoons?

If anything he played more in the midfield after Lids went down. So not sure about that argument.

Last week he started in the middle and killed it from the first minute. This week he started on the bench. And when he came on, he went HBF. Seems logical.

I can assure you the myth of the pampered private school boy is just that - a myth. The truth is the APS football program is full on. It is run like a TAC program with all the demands and structures of a professional footy organisation. And the quality of football is awesome. Don't get fooled by the lack of knuckle heads belting blokes off the ball for genuine footy toughness.

No it didn't. He played 2 and looked out of his depth to me. Back the seconds for a spell. Tonight, looks the goods. Thats the way things often go. I got no problem with that.

Now now TS, our club is no good at player development so everything they do must be wrong, ipso facto.

The good thing about this that we can bash Dimma when he plays guys like Castegna or Short and even entrusts Short with the kickouts. It's win-win.

Bloody weird how we can get so many talented youngsters up n playing exciting senior AFL footy yet we can't develop players.
Even weirder how we can get moderately ordinary youngsters up n playing sort of competent senior AFL footy yet we still can't develop players.

Maybe if the recruiters n list managers would get more talented players into the club instead of so many mid range ordinary arse scrubbers we wouldn't need to worry about " development " they'd just be good players regardless.
All them new kids and some mature lower grade players that have stepped up n played games in the last few seasons, have all simply been screwed over by our lack of develpment.

We've had quite a few young players at Richmond under Dimma who've started brightly..

Correct. It's what happens when they have the hardwick way ingrained in them that's the issue.

Hardwick would be long gone without the individual brilliance of Jack, Alex and Dusty.

George is the *smile*, I hope he gets a better coach next year.

Castagna is not up to it. Will never be up to AFL standard. Delist now before it's too late. I have plenty of room on the wagon. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Has anyone put out a missing persons alert on Carter? :hihi

George can go missing. He just seems to lose his place in the game. I'm disappointed to see him dropped but he was AWOL last week. Hopefully he brains them a level below.
