Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Worked hard tonight did the calamity man.

Even kicked the sealer when required, made a few bless but was better tonight.

The side needed him to lift and he did.

In what alternative universe does Lynch miss from 30 and Castagna kicks one from 50? Saw it with my own eyes too.

Hopefully George can get some more composure as his pressure is good but his disposal is generally woeful.

His job is not to kick goals and he follows those instructions to the letter.

He'll surely get reprimanded in the post match review for slotting one through.

He did some things last night that shows why he is always in our best 22.
That Gazelle Run
The monkey magic move
The Darren Cuthbertson mark
The ninja run down

Credit to him he was in my top 18

Obviously not the most polished player on the team, but Georgie's a bit like KMac gives everything for the team n blunts the opposition's effectiveness. The occasional goal, silky possession or high mark are simply bonuses.

Full credit to him. I had him and Brando pegged for the twos after the first two rounds. When he marked for a shot on goal yesterday I yelled "Give it off to Shorty" :cheeky, as his kicking can be suspect at the best of times. Maybe he is a confidence player but kudos to him for showing how crap I am at reading players.

Well said.

These rough around the edges types of players have really defined the Richmond way.

Gotta ignore their worst 10% and look at what they do do

Wow. However you pot Baker for two errors. George was like a headless chook when he had the ball and missed nearly ever target with his handball.

I am just happy that he is starting to play to his strengths again, he is starting to look like the 2017 version of Castagna.

Castagna is just held to lower standards than other players. People have such low expectations of his disposal that if he manages to hit one in every two targets, or a little above (as he did last night) he is considered to have had a great night. Likewise if he holds a mark or does a run and dash (even if it is in the end ineffectual) it's praised out of proportion. As long he tackles and we win, rightly or wrongly, he'll be considered an indispensable cog. He's still a shocking liability, but that's just the way it is.
