Butler to replace him. If not Lloyd could easily play the same role.

Lloyd doesn’t bring anywhere near the same pressure. Butler’s in a race against time.

Need to bring more than pressure. Doesn't touch the ball and useless in front of goal. And his pressure and tackle count would be well down on last year.

Castagna has been very up and down with his pressure acts this year. Last game he was good with 61, Lloyd was no slouch with 49. Previous game Castagna had just 26. It's a hard call atm but Lloyd has some positive arguments.

Relevance?? Isn't it the Castagna thread? Did we play the Moggies again?

Any comments on JC's game today? I had to work so missed it. Fill me in. Sure HDL and Co. will be along shortly to assist.

With Leysy's kiss of death he didn't disappoint - W.O.G.

Yes, Bullus, we never sought this - JC's loss of form - but I don't think he's been the same since Leysy's kiss of death. It's powerful voodoo. Just hope we can cure him in time for finals. [JC, HDL is incurable bad medicine]

crumbs were scarce today Bully.

was at the game, and every ball in went down Jacks throat.

then they cleared out fwd 50.

tough gig playing a flank or a pocket without going inside 50.

forget goerge's run today. It was Jack's day.

Was Hanley his direct opponent? If so that's a concern.

I can only really recognise 3 or 4 Suns?

No doubt it wasnt georges day, but he kept running patterns

and yeah, tough gig a small forward when the big forwards kick 14.

Needs a big one next week, a few snapping at the heels. Be interesting when Butler hits full fitness, competition building for spots. Higlet stays, Rioli stays, Graham stays.

george had a flat spot this time last year.

I think the MC will handle it in a similar fashion.

he is an ordinary footballer, maybe due to his knees, or maybe due to his heart. i dont think anyone who knows anything about footy rates him.

what does Twitter say about W Rioli's zero goal, 5 frees against effort?

So he didn't kick 7 ... ? How about 4 then ... like you said he would?

But, isn't he the CHF as your svengali has told all his lackey followers on here? The KEY to the forward line? A unique talent in our forward structure.

So who is this Jack bloke that's hogging the ball I50? I think we need to drop him so George can get back to his proper role, surely?

BTW. How did my train analogy bear out?

Just simply not our game plan. We are happy to give the opposition first touch, we've been close to the bottom of the clearance count the last 4 years. Then we pressure, pressure , pressure, turnover, score. We don't get as many disposals because we play a longer game. Interestingly both Eagles and Tigers are towards the bottom of this list yet sit #1 and #2 on the ladder. It did not fuss me at all that Geelong had alot more possession. They also had loads more handballs going backwards and sideways whilst under extreme pressure. All the hoo ha about how many disposals Danger and Selwood had yet who won the game and was for most of it in complete control? I prefer to see Cotch get 100+ pressure acts than 38 possessions with 15 of those 1-2s and cheap receives running behind our players with the ball.

I've finally got back to this reply of yours. Sorry but I had to get off PRE in a hurry to go somewhere and only gave you a garbled response then. I know all this as any true Tigers fan should. But, it's been proven we can be beaten, just not at the G so far. However, Weagles used same game that beat us to defeat the Pies, who many think have adopted our game as closely as anyone, and at the G. So their game-plan where they deny us the ball through a pass and mark game can beat us, but I think only if Darling and Kennedy hit best form again to take the big contested marks that can convert I50, along with Yeo and LeCras anf other SFs chiming in with goals. That's looking less likely without the input now of NN and Gaff.

Overall, I agree with you but just don't think we can get complacent and expect that conceding a lot of opposition possessions will always work. What if you get 15 pts behind with 3 minutes to go? Do you want the ball then? We only beat the Moggies by 3 pts and it could have easily been a loss because we failed to bury them when we should have.

Many teams are working hard on finding and exploiting our weaknesses to bridge the gap. Results and injuries seem to be going our way, but there is still no better way to win a game than dominate ball control and convert into scoreboard pressure. That's what we did to the Crows in the GF ultimately, from about half-way into the 2nd Q.

Probably the team that would worry me the most if they can even get to meet us in the finals is GWS because they have the running power and skills to really punish us if we allow them a lot of ball. Injuries look to be handicapping them however.

It’s all sorted then.

Leon would take Menzel over Castagna.

Leon ... lol

Looks like I have to flatter this dipstick response with a response because other gullible punters have misconstrued too.

It's never been about Menzel but HDL's silly and flattering, over-the-top adulation of Castagna, as cited several times by myself and Bullus. Again, this must over-taxed your comprehension abilities again. (This is a common syndrome for those who read and fantasise after reading Ian Fleming novels apparently ... or maybe just seeing those amazingly convincing films in your case)

HDL introduced Menzel into the discussion as a decoy, a bait in an attempt to win a cheap point. So I didn't bite and say George is definitely SO much better because he applies more PRESSURE. That's an evaluation for simpletons. Even then, HDL either couldn't follow, or wilfully chose to, mis-read my response which was that it would depend on the make-up of the team (Whose? Ours? Geelongs? and forward line. In sheer statistical stats, he has strengths over JC, and deficiencies. HDL dragged up M, not me. I simply responded with that.

But I cited several other players to disprove his claims of JC's being so unique. HDL seems to have struggled with his claims since then. That's been the issue.

No, you've just fooled yourself and some others into thinking it had something to do with Menzel. Irrelevant. A decoy that some easily fell for.

But you're looking like you could have put a curse on Jason. Do you still think he's the CHF, unique?

Does the No.8 register in your mind or vision at all? Check my prior posts re who is our only CHF, FF or KPF, whatever you want to label him.
