Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

George does the unbelievable then butchers the unbutcherable. Needs a little more composure and work on his fundamental skills then could be an elite player. Me thinks has has talent but not natural talent like Rioli or Bolton.

Georgie's just providing what Dimma hoped Stevie M could provide a few years back. Contest after contest, insane pressure and intensity on the oppo defenders, a healthy dose of manic chaos, plus the occasional dabble of blooper highlights and a goal or two when needed.
Wayne and Ridley have nailed it, huffing n puffing, tail wagging Jack Russell Georgie, just coming back for more over n over again.

Haha fast bowler... jack russel... some great stuff!!! Look George is frustrating and sometimes he looks like an absolute amateur with his Skills etc but the beauty about him is he keeps going. His level of intensity and pressure is as good in the last 5 minutes as it is in the first and a huge reason we have worn teams down and then just run all over them. There will be plenty of others in that spot with more skill... Stengle is one.. but u need the tank and u need the appetite... the goals have come from the entire team through the sheer dirty work and ethic of players like George. It’s not pretty and it might not reflect as much on the stats sheet but my word it is absolutely the reason we won the flag last year and he will take some replacing. He is a tiger premiership player so I love him.

Different players Sin.

George is an athletic freak. Crazy yet elite traits that he hasn't yet understood how to use.

Lambert was always an amazingly clean footballer who just needed a midfield opportunity and a dose of belief.

I have posted before that George creates as much opportunity as anyone but wastes more than most. Unless that changes he will remain as he is

It could change but I can't see it

you have pointed out the one main difference. Prior to this year Lambert was playing out of position, this year he got midfield time and his game (and self-belief) improved. i guess the question could be asked which came first.

physically George could make a great midfielder. He is strong, fast and explosive. but his ball handling skills will probably rule this out.

i wouldnt rule out more improvement from him. maybe more confidence and experience will limit the mistakes.
but i also wouldnt rule out him ending the year in the VFL.

Think a key area we are missing is George's scope.

This is a kid who had 46 scores (26 goals) as a 20 y.o. in a position he is very new in.

Ceiling is a lot higher than the concensus ILHO. His aerial work, first step and second efforts are amongst the best leysy has ever seen.

Anyway time will tell, we all hope he delivers outstanding results for us. Fingers crossed he will.

Jeepers Brodders, you are like a weather forecaster advising that there is a 50% chance of rain

lol.

Personally I don't think George will 'do a Lambert'. Deosn't get enough pill for starters.

I do like that he's been hitting the gym hard though. Looks in good nick.

Rough diamond but in the rookie draft you aren't going to get many finished products that weren't already drafted from the TAC.

Brave, pace, competes takes the game on but lacks polish. That can improve. So was Matt White. Little bit of Jasper Pittard about him but not the kicking skills.

But nothing wrong with taking pace and flair and trying to install the basics.

Called it early Scoop - great call
I get as frustrated with "Crazy George" as much as anyone but he is elite at pressure and causing turnovers. He grows on you like moss, slowly becoming one of my favorite players and as a 21 y.o, plenty of time ahead to get even better - he is becoming irreplacable - again , slowly but surely. A big reason we are so good i reckon.

Righto Tooheys, you go off your unsubstantiated opinion, I’ll go off the fact he wasn’t dropped in our run to finals and beyond in 2017 despite the frantic calls on PRE :hihi

The coaches love what he brings and I can see why.

He's a definite starter but one of the first picked? You're having a larf Baron.

George is fast, strong, agile, unselfish, aerial and coachable.

If the coaches value defensive/offensive flexibility, and given our game plan hinges on forward turnovers, I would be surprised if George wasn’t one of the first picked.

If this bloke improves his decision making, marking and handballing he could easily be one of the best small forwards in the league.

Carlton were heavily into him last year and depending how Bolton and Stengle go, we will have some real trade value with our plethora of small forwards.

Higgins will be a star too.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Baron.

He and K-Mac would be amongst the first names on the board as they fit in so perfectly to our style and other teams can't do much about it.

When Dimma talks about our one-wood, George is one of the keys.
