Welcome to Tigerland - Callum Moore

A guy with his kicking skills is more often than not going to let you down. I suppose the best you could hope for is as a key back who when he gets possession has to just kick it down the line or handball off. But the game really has moved on from that type of player.

Yep, he's a bust.
Let's hope it doesn't take the club 5 years to work that out.

not really true. The game has moved on from lumbering immobile big men, no matter how good a kick they are. I haven't seen him play, but I hear he's big, fast and agile, and a poor kick.

Its all about cost benefit. If other aspects are good enough to compensate for being a poor kick, and/ or if his kicking improves enough to be a pass, all good. I actually reckon pinpoint kicking is becoming less important, its still important, but the end of the Hawks and the Bulldogs flag signalled a chang. JJ just bangs it forward, and he's one of the hottest players in the game.

Interesting points, Snakey. Moore does have some attributes that may compensate for his poor kicking skills, but it is a big MAY in my opinion.
As other posters have mentioned, if Moore is a bust let's hope RFC is swift in this recognition and moves on quickly.

1: It's odd you comment when you haven't seen him play.

2: it's even more odd when you then compare with a player he is nothing like in JJ.

not that odd. Sometimes I just absorb the secondary-source PRE vibe. I only ever see 2 or 3 seniors games live each year.

I knew that, it was a wider, contextual point, nothing to do with comparing Moore and JJ 8-

I don't reckon many would dispute that Bullarto, he was always a speculator. I was just taking exception to the dud, no chance camp.

Not saying he will or won't adapt, but kicking isn't that hard, surely it can come with hard work? Rance was bloody awful, now he's a gun (with dashes of awful). I'm not sure how long is long enough to persist with a player like this, but the rookie list is virtually free, so it's not killing us by any means seeing if he can work out.

Rance was never a poor kick. He was a poor decision maker at times.

McRae on Seymour's Round 5 performance -

Callum Moore

12 disposals, four marks, one tackle, one goal.

Played mainly in the back line, we’re looking for him to really work hard in that role, and present hard off half-forward. He’s another key position player that’s a work in progress, but is progressing well.

Moore is getting some ball. He's engaged. It's good. Swinging him around is good too.

When he says 'another' Fly is indirectly referring Ryan Garthwaite. Seymour and Garth are the two comers. But projects. Not 'above the level' or 'hard-running'. That'll get ya promoted.

1 tackle. :clap

I think they've got Chol and Moore in each others position.

IMO Moore forward and Chol back.

Bring him in for Castsgna, has the pace and agility to apply defensive pressure and would be very dangerous in the air.

He is miles off the fitness to apply defensive pressure. Would be ran off extremely easily.

We had 15 inside 50 tackles to 2 last week. Leysy wouldnt be messing with that.

If they aren't exactly killing it at reserve level then they are not going to be up to at AFL level at this stage

They're good numbers Leysy, but we need to kick goals too.

We have had one good quarter in our last three games, and have hardly troubled the scorers in the other nine quarters.
We need another multiple goal kicker, Lloyd is good over head and a goal kicker, if we lose a little in defensive pressure so be it.
If they don't bring him in I wouldn't mind giving Moore ago.

His strength is his mobility and his marking, his weakness his kicking. Well his kicking can't be any be worse than most of his teammates.

Bombing it to Jack who is being double and triple teamed is ludicrous. We need another mobile tall forward who can take a grab and who will have to be manned up.

I'd be very surprised if doesn't go better than Elton, who is probably odds on to come back in.

He needs to be upgraded and played forward, we have got nothing to lose other than another game.

Will be gone at year's end. Absolute king sized dud.
