Welcome to Tigerland - Callum Moore

I hope Seymour gets another chance. He can be sensible at the contest, even at VFA level. He's a boy. Look at him. He was very sensible today. He did get a chance at full forward when Jack was off and he lifted. Kicked a goal later.

Seymour may be playing for his career but I hope not. He deserves another year on the rookie list next year just on his dynamic. He's not giving 100% at VFA level yet. But I think he will.

Just a boy against men for now. His athleticism will stand the test at the higher level. It did when he tested. He's smart with the ball at short to medium range as you'll see.

Let's hope he can get a kick next week. Or if he's dropped that he bounes.

McBean is in his 4th year and we should expect more from him. That's the major difference.
Yep. I don't think Moore will make it but there's a fair bit of harsh criticism for a rookie first gamer.

If your joining the army. Not a bad option for him though..
I actually thought he was auditioning for a role in Peaky Blinders. Can probably only get better on that showing. It's only one game, but like Broad, clearly doesn't look up to the level.

Looked out of his depth early. But as Jack Dyer said, when Jack was off for a while in the third, he went hard and often.

Could be ok. Certainly a good size.

It's ok to let them have a game or two to adjust to the pace. Right?

So, Zips, how many do you reckon you could snag playing in the forward pocket?

At least I can kick. How the *smile* to we recruit players that can't kick??
5.3, on Grundy.

It's time for a bit of a Callum Moore update.

For most of last year I wasn't sure where we should play him. I don't think the club was either. He is an outstanding athlete and specimen. Very quick and can jump over anybody.

He lacks confidence and that includes confidence in his body. That will come as he tests it and succeeds.

Ignore any myths that are floating around. Seymour is often a good field kick and his handball is surprisingly intuitive. (See Shai's most recent tape for examples.) His goal kicking last year was occasionally hilarious. I don't know how that's progressed this year but he nailed his shot on the weekend and quite naturally.

I haven't written up Seymour so far this year because I haven't seen any VFL until last week and his preseason games were just like his games of last year. An athlete with a body - not a footballer. Can't get it. Doesn't know where to go. And sometimes doesn't seem to want to. Not a natural and immature.

But. I saw him for a half last week in the VFL. He's changed. Looks a bit heavier and a bit less mobile. He's furnished into a key forward size. And he looks like a footballer at times. Not often enough but almost.

When we talk about pack splitting this bloke can. He's just not there yet. But he's improving. He's getting the hang of it.

He's levelled up from an 18yo athlete to a VFL class forward. Thats' a huge step. He's a candidate. This is Fly's write up from last week -

Callum Moore

12 disposals, five marks, one clearance, one goal.

Played as a key forward. Showed plenty of hard running, and proved to have real scope as an AFL forward. Kicked a critical goal late in the game.

That's a big call from Craig McRae. (Doesn't say much.) Those of you who follow McRae's reports will know how important the running is.

We might be hearing a bit more about Callum Moore in the coming weeks.

Cool, thanks Dyer'ere. I like our list ecology. After years of having the occasional rare kooky experimental project that flops, we've got a few on the go at once that show a bit of promise.

He has a huge leap and runs with the speed of a thousand gazelles but his kicking is Eltonesque. That goal must have been a fluke.

He's still a longshot to make it but he has time to raise his game: there's quite a list of cloggers going out of contract this year.

But as a rookie I think that only gives him 18 months before a decision has to be made on him. And at this stage he looks to me like a larger Nathan Gordon.

They need work, snake, but they're getting it. :thumbsup

thats it. weve been crying out for a list ecologist.

id love to get a look at this bloke. sounds like a crazy cross between Kouta, Clinton King, Nat Fyfe and Steven Sziller.

Your description of him early in your post was how I used to describe Ben Griffiths in his early days. Ben can certainly play but it hasn't made him an afl footballer.

Here's hoping on Callum

Thanks D'E. That's promising at least. I didn't think he was that terrible when he played last year given the state of the team by the end of that season.

For mine we need somone who can hit up down the lines (tick) and who can bring the ball to ground so the smalls are in play. He's more capable of that than our other options. Not sure he can hit he scoreboard too well, but if he can present up, mark turn and bang it in to advantage, which might mean trying to kick to the oppostion's advantage to increase the chance it ends up to our advantage, then so be it.
