If we don't we will never know if he and others can step up or not.Just let the kid play 1sts.
Exactly right. Massive gap between 1sts and 2nds nowadays. Just because some perform quietly in the 2nds doesn't mean they're automatically no good. RCD's played 1sts already so we're not throwing him in the deep end as a debut ala Samson Ryan last season. If we don't we will never know if he and others can step up or not.
I debuted against the dogs last year? I think he is ready. If we don't we will never know if he and others can step up or not.
Clearly they've not been keeping up to date with the experts here.Seems the coaches love RCD game
Riley Collier-Dawkins (24 disposals, six tackles, six clearances)
"Really high contested possessions and for the second week in a row, stepped in to tackle with intent. He's continuing his good form."
Cheap shot, General. Morris is putting a positive spin on Riley's two average performances. You couldn't accuse me of being a serial RCD bagger or anything approaching it, but he's been underwhelming thus far this season. There might be reason(s) for that (COVID, ribs). We'll find out in due course.Clearly they've not been keeping up to date with the experts here.
Or Morris could be genuinely happy with what RCD was asked to do. How can you be so confident what Morris was doing ?Cheap shot, General. There's momentum in team selection, General. You may not be a serial bagger, but I reckon there's momentum on these forums to say he's a dud. Its easy to pile on with the mob.
Different players. I think Riley's a workhorse type, he might bust a pack with strength. He's not a classy player like Sonsie. I see Ross as a competitor for a spot though. There's momentum in team selection, General.
The VFL report is usually positive, even for the 3 possession VFL squad players this week. It doesn't mean players in Riley's position aren't given benchmarks in a constructive manner behind closed doors, but he's now had Dow and Ross win that selection battle, and Sonsie's roaring past him.
Or we could just trust our eyes.We need a teacher to decode the VFL report
I thought that at first, but he still isn't getting anything more than a dribbled handpass out when tackled. He's had enough preseasons to get that strength but still hasn't.I think Riley's a workhorse type, he might bust a pack with strength.
So trust your eyes with what. Did you see the defensive pattern/s he ran ? Did you see that he and Samson agreed where he would stand at the centre bounce, he positioned where asked, Samson gets out-muscled and Riley gets across the center circle and prevents a Sandy clearance (the defensive stuff that Morro mentioned) ? Did you see the tap out of a pack to Tyler that gave Tyler a clearance and a clean possession ?Or we could just trust our eyes.
He could replace Aarts. With Dow and potentially Sonsie in front of him, Prestia returning; i can't see how he can get into the team.
Unless perhaps Graham gets a spell.
