Welcome to Tiger land Riley Collier’Dawkins

Riley tries hard but he is not a natural footballer; can’t get enough of it and spends most of his energy chasing tail.
Apart from a few cameos in four years, has not looked like making a consistent impact at VFL level, let alone making it at AFL level.
Hope is not a strategy; people need to let go of the fantasy he’s a slow burn worth persevering with.
The jury is in and letting go is what the club should do at seasons end.
Hope might be a viable strategy for posters on a forum.
Hope belief criticism. It's all we've got.

I've developed other strategies to turn RCD into a star.
Tried sharing them with the club, I
send them via Zips because we know he has am inside link. But nothing.
So maybe the club are using hope as a strategy too

Very doubtful he will make it as a permanent player
Need injuries to get his chance
Hardly knocking the door down to get a game
Struggles to get to each contest
Seen enough

He is not a midfielder, 3 tall is his best hope or a bust.

I don’t care what he is… he needs to be given games to see what he has regardless…the midfield is possibly the worst in the league at the moment so it can’t hurt.

He is being given games.
In the 2’s.
And not setting the world on fire at that level.

I agree he has to play in the midfield for the next 4 - 5 games - not saying he will b some players perform better in AFL compared to VFL.

Now more than ever we need to show some integrity in selection.

Especially with our declining superstars.

Nothing in yesterday's VFL game highlighted to me that RCD has earned promotion to the seniors.

So who is a better player from his draft year that went after old two mums?
You could make a case for any or all of:
O'Halloran, Hill, Rowbottom, West, Sparrow, O'Neill, Kelly (f/son), Foley, Jordon, Williams, Vandermeer, Bytel, Ross, McInerney, Taylor, Parker, Scott, Koschitizke, Hind, Answerth, Schul.tz, Idun, Sholl, and Ham.

From the rookie draft that year probably only Wilkie, Young, Atkins, Aarts.

Only saw the 4th Q yesterday but his defensive pattern running was way better than a few in the 1's. It's noticeable on 2 center bounces where the ball goes out the opposite side to him and to Sandy's favour and then he gets to the next contest and lays the tackle. A few in the one's in the 4th quarter really failed to do that.

Is it a virtual queue now because of covid?
Are trade radio being slack?

Or is the trade rumours and speculation not at fever pitch in r3?
Nuh. I said “I” don’t see a queue of other clubs interested. RCD has been on our list for some time and has not been tearing it up at VFL level. We are getting well beaten at clearance work and he can’t push his way in. I had high hopes he would be the big bodied midfielder we need but it doesn’t look like it’s panning out.

Our rucks got trounced yesterday and the Sandy ruck tapped opposite to Riley every time he could. They did everything they could to avoid him.

Besides 1 quarter against the blues, our clearance work, especially centre square, have actually been decent.

We’re last for clearances in the League. 6th for centre clearances.
we lost centre clearances against the blues 12-14 after the blues won the last 7-0. overall clearances were 40-22. they won the last 17-2.
GWS centre clearances were 14-15 their way. stoppages were 16-9 our way.
Saints centre clearances were 17-16 our way. stoppages were 29-17 their way.

take out the 4th against the blues we are +5 for centre clearances.
so centre work generally fine, but stoppages do need some work.

RCD has had 2 good games in a row.

He was good in the last game against the Hawks last year. Get him in for a string of games, so the kid can show us what he can do.

Against Southport.

Riley Collier-Dawkins (15 disposals, 13 tackles four inside-50s, three clearances, one goal)

"Huge improvement in his defence on the weekend with 13 tackles. It was a great starting point to put in a really solid performance on the weekend."

And then on the weekend against Sandringham.

RCD 21 .......... 5 clearances, 4 tackles.
