Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Baker's a midfielder, not a small forward.

Butler is a lair and is currently ignoring teammates in better positions, but is an important player in our make-up.

You'd hope he works into it. Started slowly last year too from memory then really hit his straps mid season. Will get the benefit of the doubt coming back after injury.

Forward pocket is always feast of famine. I'm not his biggest fan but 7 tackles demonstrates he's working hard.

What Baker is, is a very smart, natural, one touch footballer who has great lateral movement, makes good decision under pressure and knows where to run.
Not sure why you've pigeon holed him as a midfielder? In actual fact they played him as a small forward in the 1sts last year. Just lacks the blistering pace Hardwick loves.
End the Baker farce

You answered your own question. He lacks pace, ergo is not a small forward in any team these days, let alone ours. I agree he is a true footballer, will win our reserves B&F I reckon. His physical limitations might prove a bridge too far at AFL level.

Butler and Castagna are The reason we are so good. They play 4 qtrs at full speed and never run out gas.
Butler pace makes defenders *smile* themselves.

Butler needs the other 2 amigos next to him to be effective. We didn't have all 3 consistently last year. Would scrap the rioli mid experiment and would get the band together as soon as george is fit. This is our point of difference.

I think we need to get as much pace as possible back in the forward half to compliment our talls .

100% need all three along with Higgins.

Personally I think this game plan is done and dusted. Tactic took opposition by surprise in 2017. Last year those 3 only played together 3 times and we only lost 4 games. Now we have Lynch. Our game style whilst still focused highly on pressure, has changed. I'll be very surprised if we see all 3 playing much together in the future. I think there's only room for 2.

I don’t think the way they played in 2017 is going to happen again, main reason is Tom Lynch. Rioli is going to play more up the ground , bottom line for Butler I she has to start to find form fairly quickly, watching the replay he was chasing hard and looked to be moving as well as anyone late.

A Smokey for me to put pressure on him is Jake Aarts , doesn’t have the same pace , however his a hell of a lot harder at both man an ball.

Terrified of a contest. Let’s others go past him to get the ball so he can make secondary contact.

This.
I suspect he has been encouraged to see himself as a pressuriser rather than a ball winner.
You can and should be both.
I think Butler needs a good month in Fly’s re-education camp.

Yep, a run in the midfield would do him good, he's got to have more strings to his bow.

Plays scared. Better come good in the last when the heat goes out.

Can’t help but notice that once again Dan is not playing with the required properties of A Richmond Man.
Really poor and want him banished until he commits to playing with heart.
