Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

For his role, it was never about touches and possessions, it was about impact.

All of the successful forward pockets show glimpses of the elite talent and trickery in small douses at the top level.

The fact that he hasn't had a taste so far and was overtaken by Rioli very quickly and know looks like a complete after thought tells me it's time to move on.

If Daniel's surname was Rioli instead of Butler he would have been gifted games already.

Rioli played some underwhelming this season and was picked the following week.

1. his surname is Butler, not Rioli, its a pointless hypothetical. 2. Butler didn't bash the door down. 3 Rioli was dropped, and 4. also when he did have a quiet one and kept his spot there was a hell of a lot of support for that on here, think about that for a second, big support for a coaching policy on PRE. 5. Some young players are selected for all sorts of reasons that aren't alltogether form-based, thats where coaches earn their dough, having the surname, and sidestep, of a Rioli being one of those reasons is fine by me.

Agree. Lets start being ruthless in our decision making.

Butler has been injured and hardly had a chance to show his ability. What is the benefit of keeping players like Hunt,Morris,Maric on the senior list and delisting Butler this year ?

We could just as easily go with 40+4 or delist Morris.Maric and rookie list them

Butler deserves to be given another year just so we can see what he has to offer - We drafted him for a reason and lets remember that reason before tossing him out after 2 years on the list injured

1 I have corrected that mistake
2 Rioli didn't bash the door down either. (Butler was injured for a bit of the season)
3 Rioli was dropped after a few quiet games.
4 what hat that go to do with anything, our selection policy is not a popularity contest it should be reward based not a coach playing favourites.
5 So if playing Rioli was a political move by Hardwick that is fine by you?

No idea what you mean by corrected mistake

who said anything about political? and who said anything about popularity contest? my post addressed these last 2 very points directly, if you can't see that, its not my problem.

I just don't see it with Butler in the games he has played, so don't really see the point in persisting. As for the three you listed above, they too should be let go - difference is that they are contracted unlike Butler, hence why I'm not arguing between who should be let go first. In an ideal world they would all be out of contract (or not re-signed in Maric's case) and let go.

If Butler needs to be given another year, we could quite easily delist him and pick him up in the Rookie Draft. Highly doubt anyone will pick him up before we do.

They are looking at CCox and Kirby they already have Lloyd, Shankwards Shorty and Rioli.

Butler is not needed.

The list needs talls not Butler im afraid same goes for Lambert another list clogger.

Butler can be delisted and go on the VFL list to give him a chance to show something.

No other club is going to pick him up so no point wasting premium list spots on the Butlers and Lamberts.

There are a lot of higher credentialled players who have been delisted across the league this season that other clubs will be after.

Butler wont be one of them imo.

already RE-signed.

If so, he must smell good or something because, other than maybe his first pre season game at the Western Oval, I have seen nothing to suggest he is worthy of more time.
