Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Agreed.

Must be still played regardless of size. The more footy he plays the better he will get. I'm of the understanding of reading this thread he has played a lot less footy matches through juniors than most.
The word coming from mates at Wendouree where he played his junior footy was he was a hard nut onballer who loved the goals but also injury prone. Is well loved by Dimma apparently!

Big fan of this bloke. Fast hard tough and smart, neat skills, goal sense and adventurous. Good attributes me thinks. Add 5 or so kegs over the next 2 preseasons and we have a gut running, powerful 2nd tier midfielder who can kick 20-25 per season. David Wojinski comes to mind, though not sure of his numbers, just the style he could become. Where do we sign?

A couple of seasons a go he would have been a lock for every game as our one an only small forward , now we've got 5 who all have pace an nous keeping pressure on each other to stay in Leppas hot pot forward half.

He doesn't mind getting into the opposition either.

It was priceless watching him go up to Miss Watts after he smothered his kick out.

Miss Watts and Miss Melksham - what a tough combination they are.

Add Costagna and Rioli to that as well. They don't mind mixing it with the ferals.

He has been super impressive this year. Ill put my hand up - after watching him at VFL level the last couple of years I thought he should have been delisted last year. Didn't foresee this happening at all so kudos to him - fantastic effort!

Loving watching him, Castagna and Rioli harassing the opposition, great to see for once from a Richmond side.

Castagna and Butler ranked number 2 and 3 for goals per game for rising stars. We have a couple of beauties here (not forgetting Rioli of course).

Nice goal early but another who was fumbly and poor for the most part.

After a bright start these guys should be on notice.

Bolton might get a call up next week.

Was easily the best of our smalls today. He'll play AFL footy next week.

Think Bolton may be in for George though.

Off his back. For a midget he was close to our best.
Gutless prices like Grigg, ellis and Elton lost us the game. Not bulter

What I notice is the manic pressure our 3 smalls were applying at the beginning of the season has really dropped off. Maybe they are tired or the opposition has worked them out. Rioli is the worst, just jogs around and is very reactionary.

Every time he touches the ball he makes the right decision. Would say he'd be very high up to the top in our score involvements.

What a turnaround from a certain to delist to the model of consistency at AFL level.

Out of our 3 smalls he was the best.

The pressure applied last night to the Dogs backs was poor . Allowed easy run without pressure .

Happy with Buttla so far, consistently doing better than either George or Daniel at the moment.
Think Daniel might be carrying a few creaks n groans, seems to be following the play a bit, not instigating. Plenty of growth n improvement yet to come from all three of our small forwards, but they're not quite impacting as they were at the start of the year.

Daniel Butler, like his amigos, is racing in stronger company as of two rounds ago. We want them all to get more exposure at that level because we would like them to excel at it.

Butler was satisfactory last night. But he's also batting a bit higher ATM. Got a few rolls through the middle at important times. Good times.

Yes Butler is doing well for most of the game. George should have kicked that easy set shot and he missed it bc of his silly spinning of the footy as he walks in. Peter Hudson said in an interview on Open Mike that when he sees a player do that he knows he's likely to miss it. Daniel looks injured and has been beaten two weeks in a row by the opposition putting a taller player on him and Richmond kicking it directly to him resulting in a marking contest...always going to lose. He has to be at the foot of the pack or way out on his own provided he's fit enough to run, which he's not so rest him next week.
