Welcome to the Tigers Nathan Broad

Gee Mike Sheehan trying to hang Broad for shirking a contest( ducking )?

Was that on the wing?

Trying to remember it.

Shhh. Broady is a pretty tough ombré.

Sheehan has become irrelevant.
Saving watching the replay for tomorrow arvo, so haven't seen the incident, but. Just wondering why some media fossil would hammer one of our blokes for shirking a marking contest when there were stacks of Hawforn players taking short steps n searching for others to go first in for ground ball contests during the second half.
Guess there must be a different bravery aspect when being under a high ball or chasing a ground ball.

I called it the same as Sheehan at the time, (and I despise Richmond hater Sheehan), not Broady's proudest moment, he heard footsteps and they were all Richmond's which made it look even more embarrassing.
An aberration though I have seen Broady back back into packs plenty of times only to get crunched.

I do think his last month of footy has been pretty average and is teetering on the cut line.

Sheahan is one of those Richmond-hating Melbourne supporters who believed they had out-tanked us - he actually called Melbourne 'the next Geelong' in 2010 or '11 - and resents the fact we left them for dead. As much as Garry Lyon barracks for our opposition, at least he acknowledges how good we are.

Not a chance Broady gets dropped. Short's short-arm reach for a ground ball early in the last that gifted Mitchell his goal was far worse and a repeat offence.

Thanks all your analysis of the Sheehan incident. I put it down to confidence BUT he was one of our hardest in terms of kms covered for the night and did do a number on Gunston & Breust. I know remember my boy at the tie Broady looked / wasn’t sure who was coming the other way. I

’m not going to hang him one incident.

Will look at the replay of the game again.

Stays in.

BEllis can’t play his role.

You're not suggestion Broady would go back to back and get photos of one girl and two cups are you?

If he does I hope he's more careful about who he sends the pics too. Just to PRE should be safe enough

Broads form has dropped off but he is vital to our setup. He allows vlastuin to roam around doing what he does best.

Yeah, Short was alright, easy. Poor start and that rank last quarter effort but mostly good. His jibs have dropped from 4-5 per week to 2-3, so he is improving.

I reckon this bloke has to jump out of his skin next season to hold his spot.Yeah I get his passion & desire & hard running but when he has the ball in hand I'm shitting myself.Turns it over to often and lacks that footy IQ.

That’s not his problem , in his last 5-6 games I’d doubt he had double figure possies , could barely have had any less impact on a game if he tried , yep needs to step up , I’d be commencing with markov has his spot , broad , win it back

I would hazard a guess that Broad was carrying an injury or two at the pointy end of the season like a number of other in our team hence the drop off. I am happy to wait and see what season 2019 brings although like you, I have hopes that Markov will make it but on the wing rather than defence

Had a poor finish to the season but played really well before his injury.

Agree. Whoever it is (Garthwaite, Markov, Balta) will have to work very hard to push him out.

Agreed Nathan actually had some very good games for the Tigers this year but also had a year with a few injuries.

Broad is super versatile and integral to the set up, he along with Grimes are a major factor in the fantastic defence over the past 2 years due in simple part to their versatility and ability to roll off for each other and free up Vlastuin and Rance when needed.

Broady was likely carrying an injury at seasons end along with plenty of others and had been dealing with back spasms after getting poleaxed against the Kangas standing his ground when the Kangas had a run on.

Dusty leg/groin, Chimpa leg/knee, Lambert ankle, Graham shoulder, Rance foot, and also George knee are others that immediately come to mind. The side had bashed itself up over 22 weeeks and was near cooked.

None of Balta Markov or Garthwaite will replace Broad in the side imo for simple reasons.

Markov is more a wingman, Garth is a KPP, and Balta is a KPP/Ruck..

Markov will be in competion with Bobble, Basha, Short, Grigg, Grover, Naish, Menadue and Turner for a game he aint going to push Broad out he is not as flexible or strong and he cant play tall at AFL level either.

Balta if they are looking for someone to pinch hit in the ruck isnt going to play in the backline.

Garthwaite isnt a pocket player or flanker he doesnt have the running ability.

Was one of our best in premlim against the pies one of a few who did his job.Important to our backline and underated.Always does his job given to him no fuss no nonsense doesn't need to get a heap of possies.Nothing wrong with his disposal improved heaps.

Bit of talk about how Broad can still fit in the back half with the emergence of Garthwaite and Balta , though I still think Broad will be in the back half he has a lot of very good attributes to become a tagger in the midfield , his one of our best runners, his tough, disciplined and a great size, it would also allow a player like Graham to play more attacking footy

Garthwaite isnt a replacement for Broad, and Balta hasnt played a game, and despite some potential he hasnt shown he could play on a Greene type.
IMO, the only thing that will keep Broad out of the team is Broad himself. If he doesnt play well he will be dropped but we dont have anyone that can play his role.

I reckon Broad is aware of that and has the will to up his game as shown over the last two seasons. If he stays uninjured he will remain a valuable versatile Tigers defender
