Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

He's quicker than I thought. When he sprinted and nearly took Ellis' head off, I thought who is this? Seems to have a good tanks also. Coming along nicely

some blokes look quick and aren't, and some bloke dont look quick and are.

the accepted term for the latter is 'a mover'

then theres bloke who look slow, and are, and go to Adelaide

Marlion is as close to the prototype 'mover' ive seen.

people say Mcleod, but I reckon Mcleod had a real power to his gait. he kind of bounded.

Marlion floats.

and yeah, he has a big motor too.

I suspect if you asked him quietly, he'd say he hates the wing.

but he's pretty good at it.

Id like to see him in the guts more

Has been really good on the wing, i actually prefer marlion than Caddy.
Picket and Macca combo :clap2
Pickett had 13 possies, 1 goal, 13 pressure acts, 5 tackles and 272 meters gained. He has done his job and then some.
Macintosh had 15 possies, 1 goal, 17 pressure acts, 2 tackles and 483 meters gained.

Not sure how many wingers are getting 20+ even a noted winger like Brad Hill in his last 5 games has had 17, 7, 17, 15 and 16
I think there is a third combination Macca, Pickett & Caddy. Don't discount Caddy, great mark, positioning well and can win the hard ball.

Macca would always be on the wing when on the ground. But consider as well the trio of Pickett, Caddy, Markov - they all have the flexibility to pop up where needed. Caddy in particular would have made life a bit harder for some of those GC youngsters taking uncontested intercept marks at will.

Modern football is so fast that disposals are invariably split second. And even when the player has time to look up and assess they must pre-empt where their teammates will be.
They effectively need to be programmed to know the positioning and system.
So it needs time at the club in preseason to embed the system.

And so there are concerns on MP about decision making and speed ?
He may be 28 but is still a first year player in terms of game system.
So he looks slow as he tries to remember the right move

If McIntosh looked pretty, would we love him more?

I’ve really like what Marion has showed in the last month.

There has to be a lot of leniency here... learning the system we play - he came over half way through last year... played one senior game in a GF (of all games) and has had one pre season to try and get upto speed.

This year has been incredibly unusual and disruptive ... the games are all over the shop and they basically aren’t training. Not to mention the need for him to do more than what was probably initially expected due to our injuries.
So it has been hardly an easy transition for the man.

Terrible most of the night. Playing on indulgence at times. Difficult circumstances for him but he’s one of our more inconsistent players. One decent i50 kick all night.

He can't hit a target to save himself.
Even the one that hit stack, i reckon he was going for goal.
The one in the first qtr all by himself and he kicked wide of lynch.
Reminded me of the good old days of the early 90's, late 80's.

Same here. I thought he too played one of his better games this year.

I thought he was good considering the conditions.

All the mids looked cooked at various stages of the game. Hell the assistance coaches looked like they were struggling just sitting on the bench. Running around in humid conditions at almost 30 degrees you have to cut some slack for poor decision making/disposal.

He is positioning himself well and getting the pill.

Really like him when his on the play, tough , beautiful mover , and generally good disposal , I think his second half is the minimum standard going forward . I like but I’m not convinced

I thought it was his best game for the season. He impacts contests similar to what K-Mac does that wont always appear on the stat sheet.
