Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

With all the talk about what's Hopper worth etc.
Why don’t we give them a Future 1st, pick 31 and they can keep the 2023 cup for the summer

I assume we’ve got no interest in Briggs or Flynn as part of a swap in the Hopper deal (assuming Soldo is going?)

Wouldn’t be shocked if their names came up in discussion tt.

Any state rucks you think could make a decent back up ?

It’s slim pickings are far as I can see. Liam Reidy from Frankston, Hamish Free from South Fremantle and Oliver Eastland from Claremont but they’ve all got their limitations.

Best bet is Harry Boyd from Norwood. 198cm (so short by AFL standards) but is a trojan. Agile, good mark and also plays as a key forward.

Boyd would be a good get, rookie pick would be perfect even if he plays VFL all year as a back up option after Ryan.

Just had a quick look at teams who have won a flag back to 2006 , just about every winning teams Ruckman started at another club , in 2006 Cox was the man and he was a rookie , never ever give up high picks on ruckman is a rule I hope Blair and Matt continue to have on the cover of there list building book

We basically need a ruckman with a mature body and a bit of size about him who may be called upon to ruck in a few senior games in the event that Ryan is not quite ready. In all likelihood, Ryan will get first dibs when Nank is injured. If he doesn’t cope, the we need a plan B. If he gets tired, then it’s plan B again.

I have no doubt that they will find such a doofus and place him on the rookie list.

Good luck opposition clubs winning the ball from the centre square .

*smile* I’d even be inclined to give them 2019 cup for the summer. I’m not sure hopper and Taranto will be rushing to see it when they walk in the door at Punt Rd.

They can look at it every day and try to win a couple for themselves.

Strive for excellence that's the Richmond way
The boys will learn very quickly how good we are on and off the field.
P.s I don't expect much early, it will take them approximately 5 weeks to get a custom to a crowd cheering them on.

To be fair every club would have given their eye teeth for Cox when he established himself and plenty would have been kicking themselves by overlooking him. Would have gone alright in a yellow and black jumper.

No I agree with you, Poshman and others. Getting Hopper with Taranto and with our current group is an all assault at Flag 14.

I understand that. I truly do.

But I couldn’t stomach another period like I endured from 1983-2016. I’ve included our seasons of finals but ultimately it’s flags a club gets measured by not just making finals or being uncompetitive for long periods.

You want sustained success. Obviously. You want to give your players every possible chance every year. Obviously.

I don’t want to end up like Hawthorn. A recent case study!

With those two added gives us a huge opportunity.

Let’s hope we clean up those issues we had this year. It’s was brain fade stuff from mostly experienced players and also poor goal kicking.
Remember last years draft?
5 picks in the top 30.

Just noticed your post, after posting about Hamish Free on the 2022 draft thread. I mentioned Oliver Eastland a couple of years ago, he goes ok, is more mobile than Free.

If pick 19 goes along with our future 1st both seasons are left in very bad shape for our recruiters.
Can’t help but think the Hopper trade may
still include some surprises and that Blair and co have been working on a few other possibilities especially around our future picks.
There was some interest expressed about RCD, maybe George also?
