Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

Daniel's skill set is elusiveness and burst efforts. He doesn't have the engine for hb and will be repeatedly outmarked.
He needs to go back to the magoos for a short time and rediscover the dangerous nippy forward who can kick four in a final.
At the risk of repeating myself, at this level, you need to be a specialist and continually work on your craft. I see Daniel as an Eddy Betts-style player and he lives or dies as an AFL footballer as a small forward.

Such little faith in DR at the moment. I get why, but I’m backing him in.

After we beat Collingwood, there will be a hint of 2017 in the air.

Smells nothing like 2017 to me unfortunately. Smells pretty pharken bad right now actually.

2017 we had a group of gun players coming into top form and prime age, a new gameplan that no-one could counter, we were the hunters, the Tiger army got on board and belieeeveeedddd.

2021 we have injuries up the wazoo, a short-staffed coaching department (with a bunch of coaches who left after flag no. 3 for unexplained reasons), a senior coach who has made some serious mis-steps this year, a bunch of rule changes which screw with us and a very obvious lack of connection and sense of frustration in the team. We also have Cotch clearly on his last legs, maybe Houli and Astbury in the category too although Houli is gone for this season anyway. We have some good promising young players, and some mediocre ones who may or may not step up, eg Ross.

We aren't even the hunted right now - teams should expect to beat us on current form. St Kilda and the Suns FFS? There is no magic in this team right now.

I will forever remember 2017 as the year where hope blossomed and the summit was reached, this year ain't that. I'm still not prepared to write us off totally this year but the challenge is vast. Fortunately we face another basket-case in Collingwood this week, but even that is not a gimme.

Dimma and the gang have two months to find that magic again.

He is too good to be playing in the reserves. Is he a HBF time will tell but I would rather him to try it at AFL level.

The game has gone past players who only apply pressure and bob up every few games with a goal here or there.

We either have to deprogram players from their 4 years of chaos mentality or go all out with it

I thought there were some promising signs.
He certainly looked to have some of his old spark back, which was good to see.

Was far from our worst. Given where we are now I can't see any reason not to continue the HBF experiment and see what comes of it.
