Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

Looks a back in the making to me atm. As he has for four years.

One of the few bright lights.

He was ok in the first half and then like the entire defence, got overwhelmed when everything capitulated further up the field. Same with Mansell.

Our backline wasn’t the issue tonight.

I’m not a fan of DR but he looked comfortable at half back and has footy nous.
could be a hb possibility

If Houli does go next year (or even if not) Daniel could be a good halfback option. He does have the skills and tricks, more so than Georgieboy methinks. If he can get his head right.

We’ve got a plethora of HBF’s. Time to take one or two of them and see what they can do full time in the midfield or up forward - both of which look very very brittle at the moment.

We do have a lot of HBF. We only have one Houli. But we have a Stack. And this Daniel Smith kid, shows a bit.

We even have a HBF who won a B&f in a premiership year. I wonder what we could sell him for.

If he's going to make it in the backline he needs to accumulate more than 46 metres gained as a small player. Nevertheless he possibly played a better game than he's played all year in the forward line. Not sure though he has a spot when Vlastuin and Broad are back. Mansell acquitting himself very well and Stack has alot more upside.

Yeah that was my take. Daniel was good, but Mansell and Stack were better.

If his surname wasn’t Rioli he would be in a whole lot of trouble.

So they will continue to try and find places for him because of his flashes of brilliance here and there.

And we don’t have enough good young players to replace him as yet which will keep him in the mix.

Thought he did ok after two weeks of training as a HBF, with most of our defenders out and a depleted midfield in front of him.

Couldn't disagree more with having Daniel play back. Aarts has taken his spot and look at the result. He is a natural forward.

Have to give him credit, he looked good down back. He has amazing closing speed, better reach than Baker as well.

Conundrum.... Bakes or Riolli.

Liked how they played Bakes up forward, he's a utility and can do anything, except maybe mid. He had that one great game when we had Martin and Cotchin and everyone else out, but then got found out a bit I reckon.

Bakes definitely offers more than Riolli up forward right now. It's good flexibility to have.

I really dig Mansell down back too.
