Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

He looked good. A couple of decision-making errors but otherwise slotted in seamlessly. Will have to wait his turn though.

Agree Menadue was ok, one of only 2 errors was a result of Broad putting him under pressure by missing by foot by 10 metres under no pressure

And execution errors actually. No good on his left based on the 2 shockers.

Where is his best position? Wing? HBF? HFF?

HBF is his best spot, but it's also Houli, Vlastuin, Broad, Short, and Markov's best spot, so he never gets a crack at it in the 1s.

It’s the big moments that worry me.

I remember the game against Geelong last year when he turned to water.

He doesn't have what it takes.

Reminds me of Craig Biddiscombe

Low blow :hihi but I kind of see it.

Long way down the order. Long, long way.

Really showed a bit in a few games in '17. I saw it with my own eyes. Hasn't since.

That's true but it was only a flash back then, hasn't even reached those heights in almost two years and hasn't got any better. Peaked.

Well and truly.

The Port game.

yeah that was the best one, but there were 2 or 3 others where he had a real impact when the heat was on. Cameos, but good cameos. Where he was, age and development, it was all you could ask and I just thought he'd go on with it. But he hasn't

I think as of right now he is in the first two out the door at years end along with Grigga who is touted as being most likely to retire.

The recruitment of Turner and Sydaknee has to be another shot across his bow.

His best chance may lay in him having a better improved season this year and Houli leaving at years end along with Grigg.

I dont see it at this stage but Nathan Broad was written off by many as a certain delistee after damaging his AC Joint along with Towner at the kick off of the 2017 season and both became key role players in the RFC Premiership.

Connor must impact 2019 you'd have to think.

20+ disposals for the 9th time in his last 10 VFL outings. According to our esteemed VFL watcher ryan he played well, "but he always plays well at VFL level".

The thing is, he always plays HBF at VFL level, but I don't think he has had the chance to spend a second there in the AFL, instead being given the much tougher asks of playing wing/HFF.

I hope Short plays wing today. Will he get 12 contested possessions like Menadue did in the Geelong game that had everyone hating on him?

Menadue's had a few games at half back. He's never had more than 20 disposals at AFL level in 33 games. He's another who excels at VFL level but just hasn't taken the leap at AFL level. Just isn't built strong enough and struggles with the extra pace of AFL. A depth player for mine. 4 seasons (now 5th) is well and truly enough time to tell for his type of player whether he can make it or not.
