Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

showing glimpses. Loved the dash. One awesome chase on Goddard, one run on the wing with 3-4 bounces. Need to get involved more, wont be a gun but should become a reliable 22 lock that just does his job week in week out.

Looking fitter and fitter.
Get the impression he's starting to believe he belongs.
BELIEF is the most important factor in how quickly young players develop from U18 and in fact if they develop at all. Rioli had it when he started, so does Bolton but some players take forever to believe they belong at the highest level...Menadue, C.Ellis, Griffiths, Markov (thought he had it last year, seems to have gone backwards this year). They all showed they have the physical skills but then mental BELIEF and confidence is what determines whether they will make it and become a regular senior player. This area is where the coaching panel and sports psychologists are so important and why we should have more at each club. They are also helpful in dealing with anxiety and depression issues. Don't tell me that Fasolo is the only one...

yep personal highlight for me.

Goddard was carving us up in the first half. Menadue made him look like a doddering old fool. Game changing tackle.

Just need that one real breakout game and he could really level up as a bonafide AFL player.

Scoop would hate him and McIntosh on the wings. Leysy would love it. ;D

K-Mac yes, panic merchant who gets lost real easy.

Menadue has the tools, I just didn't think Menadue deserved the hype but Saturday night was a major step forward.

Anyone that can make Goddard like silly get s a tick from me.

I recall at the draft table they were saying Connor would take 4 years? That is a slightly negative statement for a draftee to hear. Don't think you should be putting limitations on your draftees or putting in their mind that they are going to take 4 years to impact. I spoke to Connor at a club function after the draft and he seemed very confident of impacting earlier. Somewhere along the way he went from taking the game on to being hesitant to do so. Was it coached out of him or lost confidence? Anyway the arrival of Fly, Carracella and "X" might just be the tonic Connor needed. For a lowish possession game there were very positive signs Sat night. Must persist with and be given a block of games. Glad he is still contracted for 2018, always been a fan.

Hartley said at the draft, three years. It will be three years in November. He's ahead of schedule.
Thanks for correcting me spook, maybe they said 4 for McJesus which sadly did not eventuate.

I think that may have been a comment on how skinny he was when he was drafted. There certainly wasn't much of him at the time, but they liked his pace and potential.

been saying it all along, he's a star in the making.

Best hope is get to Will Hoskin Elliot level.

WHE is not a star and never will be due to lack of an inside game. But he's a quality player.

Your bar is low.

Averaging 11 disposals a game this year

Career average is just over 11.

He has pace which is crucial, but star suggests an elite player in the making.

You look at players drafted around him who have done more, Maynard, Blakely, Neal-Bullen, Miller, McGovern, Daniel - I don't think any of them are going to be elite although Daniel is the best performed to now and Blakely perhaps the pick of them from a future point of view.

You wouldn't seriously take Menadue as the first picked from that bunch would you?

Hmm, I reckon he's going to be another Richmond draftee who doesn't achieve much but will be given plenty of time not to achieve it.
