I know Blair Hartley is a bit on the nose on here these days but he did say to Dimma when we drafted Connor Menadue that he would take 3 years.

Me too. Some claim it's "managing" the youth and their more fragile bodies. Which makes little sense as he's still playing footy albeit at the next level down.

But I've seen it too many times with Dimma and IMO is more destructive than managing.

Any chance they may be trying to qualify him for the vfl finals just in case ?

Don't know, is there? Anyway I'm not sure trying to qualify kids for an outside chance of the VFL side playing finals should be a selection criteria for afl selection.

I don't know either TT which is why I asked the question. It entered my mind when I saw that he is playing vfl that's all.

Why don't they 'manage' a more senior player like Griggy, Lloyd or Ellis?

We know where they're at, but senior games are valuable for a guy like Menadue.

Edwards, waltzing back in and stinking the joint up. And playing Chol & Moore weakens the VFL side so we aren't trying to bolster them and Menadue has played too many AFL games to qualify hasn't he? And poor Marcon, kills them against the Pies, doesn't play again.

Selection has been utterly stupid this year.

I'll give them credit in the education of Markov, Short an co via the VFL as well as the slow adding of the kids into the AFL team, however the in an out , out an in of Menadue and others in front of more senior players makes little sense to me as well.

I reckon Conner is exactly the sort of player that have had the Doggies go all the way. Super quick, never never stops chasing and gives total commitment I still say that in time he will be a great player for us. Baffling as to why he found himself back in the twos for so many games. I agree with others that say our selections have been mystifying and woeful at times this year. Points to a clear lack of forward thinking. Will this change from now on? Man, I hope so....
