Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

There are six blokes in the magoos whose ears must be ringing over this selection. It'll be a highlight watching the kid.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

I think he'll be the sub again, it gives us fresh fast legs late in the game, which is something we'll need against Port.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Probably in due to his speed and running power, if it were Sydney, I reckon we'd have gone a different direction.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Isn't it great to be able to select a squad suited to a grand/opposition. For too long we were struggling to find 22 AFL worthy players.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Agree - he is picked because of matchups and the ground and style of Port may suit him (unlike Sydney or Freo as has been mentioned earlier).

Also, he was one of the standout players over summer (from all reports) so he has earned his spot. I am surprised he stays in but it is hard to judge a first gamer who comes off the bench.

Hope he goes well in game 2

Yep.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Hope he gets a full game. Great type. Will learn heaps tomorrow.

Needs to be on the ground for a period of time so his speed becomes a factor. Should use his pace offensively to start with, pressure acts and rundowns. Can't be judged on how many times he gets it at this stage.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

It's a shame he's so little. We could start him out in the forward pocket in place of Morris.

I think he's perfect to learn the game from there. Spells high half forward and deep in the pocket.

At least he can hurt teams the other way. Keeps the opposition honest.

Can you explain to me what Morris is suited to? :help :help

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Morris is chief whipping boy. He takes the pressure off Plasma, Batch and Chappy.

Of course he does. It's the easy way out for the fan boys.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Didn't get a lot of it but his speed enables him to put extreme pressure on the opposition.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Didn't let himself or the Tigers down today. Has a way to go yet but he will always remember his first goal in AFL.

Yep, and he looks like he has a football brain. Body just not there yet. Could be a nice player in 2032 when he weighs more than 48kg.

Could have had it last week with his first kick - but it was a bloody ripper tonight and just at the right time.
Hopefully he'll have learnt a lot with this game and he/we'll all see the benefit in the months to come.
Well done son!

That was a ripper. And even better it was under huge pressure.
